There is only one supplier of hotel rooms, supplies, decor, and other furniture in the world. Every hotel is required to purchase from them.
Why?
Because the designer used to play that old PDP-11/VAX/etc. game "ADVENT" or "DUNGEON"... And liked the idea of "twisty little passages, all alike" or "twisty little passages, all the same" or...

Yes hotels buy their stuff in bulk or from the same suppliers. My father owned two hotels on Long Island in Suffolk County. He sold them in the 1970's and moved us to Florida. I did help out at one of them during the summers of 74 and 75 when I was 13-14 years old.

When the space travelers came here long ago they established guidelines for how motel/hotel rooms must look. This was all written down in the same book where they told us how to make pyramids and lost cities in South America.
It's amazing that they solved this but never established a rule for who should move which way when two people are trying to get by each other in a hallway.
