Erin or Bob
I don't know if it is just me, or another problem with the site software, but now that the site is back up, there is no place at the end of a chapter to vote, and also no option available to "add to favorites",
I think you guys (or to be PC "Guys & Gals") do a tremendous job keeping this site up and running for those of us out here who can't write and can't work on software, but really appreciate the ability to read the stories you have posted.

Voting Was the Primary Problem
Look at the "Back on Main Server" Blog Posting (http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/blog/19054/back-main-server). The voting module is incompatible with the latest release of the database software, and won't be available for a while.
I understand....
That voting is temporarily not available. Apparently there's a conflict in the code (if I read correctly).
I may not have turned favorites back on, I'll look
But the voting module is dead. It isn't maintained and the current version is not compatible with the upgrade to the database. It won't be coming back unless we upgrade to Drupal 6. Sorry.
Hugs,
Erin

RIP
Perhaps the software is trying to say something about voting. I'll not miss it.

I only ever voted ONCE here, except in some contests
I much prefer to PM or comment. Much more personal and informative to the writer IMHO.
Some will miss the voting button. No big deal for me but then I'm me.
Thanks for all the detective work, Erin and Bob.

Voting was a USP
Voting was one of those features which raises BC way above the competition. Far more readers will vote than express an opinion. I for one will really miss it
voting
I like it also, nice to be appreciated, not knowing why does not bother me.
Keep smiling

Favorites are back
Also remember the Bookmarks and ++Bookmark which are similar and have a link on the front page instead of having to go to your account. Bookmarks is nearly the same idea as Favorites, the code is even similar and favorites do not exist in Drupal 6.

Erin

Wondering
Not trying to be contentious, but did the database "update" do anything that was really needed? Or was it like Microsoft's never-ending updates, fixing things nobody even realized needed fixing? I mean, I don't recall there being any problems before the "update" was applied so the only visible efffect has been to disable some features that were working before, and cause you mucho grief, grey hairs, and lost sleep.
I went outside once. The graphics weren' that great.
Security fix
The upgrade maintained compatibility with other upgrades that were done for security reasons. The old version of MySql was vulnerable to a certain kind of hacker attack. Also, Apache, the webserver software had some vulnerabilities and fixing them required fixes in MySql. That's my understanding.
This isn't MS software, it's freeware from the Centos foundation.

Erin

Not M$
Yeah, I knew that, I just meant that it seemed like all the M$ updates, fix one thing and break two others. I had to uninstall a QR code reader from my Blackjack phone that buggered up the battery charge indicator just the other day. The "update" also dropped several features of the previous version, with no explaination given. I'm now looking for the 2nd Genaration Google phones to come out, since M$ is going to obsolete everything before when it releases WM7. That eliminates any reason I might have to stay with a WM-OS phone.
Don't anybody say get an iphone, or I'll have to wash somebody's mouth out with soap.
