"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" screamed Augustine as she grabbed Lexi to hold her at eye level.
"Run," was Lexi's blunt response.
Augustine was about to ask when a noise resembling a sonic boom broke in Terri's direction, causing the entire building to shudder, then a wind began flowing in through the large hole in the wall, picking up speed.
"RUN!" Screamed Lexi over the howling of the wind. "You will be powerless in Seconds, you need to get everyone away NOW!"
Augustine put Lexi down to get a better view of the events unfolding.
The charged Plasma that had adorned various blades about the room was bleeding off into the air. Users throughout the room were experiencing a similar effect, as visable strand of mana were snaking their way out and funneling toward Terri, spiraling around her like a whirlwind.
"The world has never seen anything like her," said Lexi. "Now RUN! Fully realized, her vortex ability should consume all mana for MILES!"

Ah so the Mana sinks work both ways
So who was fooling who when they put all those magical *drains* on Terri?
As was said before, her *dead* grandmother plays a deep game.
I only hope Terri survives intact and her own person, not mind controlled or worse and maybe just possibly with all the mana Terri has at her disposal, Lexi, her daughter from the bleak alternative future somehow survives. As it is now it looks like she is preparing to save her mom at the cost of never being born as she was the result, suposedly of a rape and magical assault.
And will we ever get a full explanation of what happened and how with grandma, mom, Terri's boyhood girlfriend/friend, the various local magic users trying to help/exploit Terri, the at least two female Terris, Lexi and so on. And that of the previous vortex who was Augustine's child if I remember? Will Terri ever find true love and people she can really trust? So far no one has told her the complete truth. But then time travel/alternate timelines are tricky.
It's been a while but sounds well worth it.

So does that mean the rest of the story isn't too far away from being finished? This story has so many layers, that its fascinating watching them being peeled away. You never know what you'll find next! I do hope for a happy ending. Lexi has done so much she deserves some chance of continuing.
However your plot is starting to make sense. Thinking she was just like any other vortex the bad guys did the standard evil things. Of course they blew up in their faces leaving a damaged hurt insane? POWERFUL Terri behind. It's like trying to harness a geothermal vent and finding out it's a volcano. I think vortex's will be treated differently after this. Oh Grandma, I bet no one ever play cards with you!
