Taxonomy upgrade extras:
I've recently upgraded to IE8 and Windows 7. Until today, it's been great. Then today it happened... for some reason it says it cannot open BC whenever I try to go to it... via a bookmark or a Google search. I haven't touched any Parental Controls whatsoever and have no problem getting to my other TG-related sites via a bookmark.
My wife and I have proven it's IE8 or IE8 related, because friends report they're not having any problems and as final proof, I'm typing this on my laptop, which is running Vista and Windows 7.
Anyone who can hazard a guess is welcome. Maybe it does have something to do with Parental Controls, but everything I see in 'tools' looks ok. FWIW, I can't even see how one can set any criteria without setting up a specific account with a password.

Have you tried
Clearing Browsing History (under Tools-Options-General)? Does the site come up with Firefox?
IE problems
I had the same issues this morning after taking the latest patch from java on one of my PC's running ie8
But Firefox is working fine on the same machine.
On my laptop running ie7, everything is fine.
One other thing off the top of my head
If you cleared the browsing history from the menu, you may also need to clean out all the junk in your temp folder. Easiest way to open it is from the start menu pick RUN or in the search box type %temp% and it will open your temp folder for cleaning.

I'll try that...
Cleaning my temp file and history, that is.
The PC (IE8) was off all day until I got on this afternoon - no Java patch, but when I tried to logoff & reboot, I did notice there were 2 Windows updates that installed when I logged off. Think I should find where on Windows 7, I can set my updates & only get notification, allowing me to select what actually gets installed.
As for Firefox... I chose not to have it. I know it's herasey ot Firefox user's, but that's me...

Microsoft installed new
Microsoft installed new patches last night which probably conflicts with Java. Go to control panel then System and Security then backup and restore then recover system settings of your computer then finally Restore this computer to an earlier point in time like when it was previously working. After doing that turn off automatic windows updates to stop from getting back in. Wait about two weeks then do windows update.

It is a long road ahead but I will finally become who I should be.
Yay!
You hit the nail on the head, Jenna... thank you! I thought I had those automatic updates turned off at one point. Maybe at some point during my IE8 upgrade, they got reset. Hmmm
Thanks, again.

Or....
{shrug}
Glad it is fixed regardless :)

Even if it conflicted with Java
And I've seen no evidence of this...I am running Windows 7 (64bit) and IE8 came up just fine here...and PB said all her other site are coming up fine as well...
I don't think a Java error would stop the site from loading at all.

Possibly, but...
Whatever it was, the suggested correction fixed everything. I've also reset my Windows updates to just notify me and I'll decide what goes in.

You should be
able to get to the auto updates things through the control panel. Of course, I am scared to death of upgrading to win 7 and ie 7 due to equipment issues, so I have no idea where they may be hidden in the new stuff. I will wait quite a while before I have to upgrade so they have a good chance to fix the easily patched problems in the broken stuff they sell. They once issued a patch that conflicted with Zone alarm and would not let anything work. I always pick and choose any updates they send.
