My apologies for my lack of voting.
I am currently experiencing problems with Firefox 3.5 as all of a sudden, it decided that certain elements of websites would not be accessible to me. Amongst those, is the ability to vote.
I get the little pointy finger and all and I can click--it's just that nothing happens.
I have been using Firefox now for well over two years and thought it was the mutts nuts, but now, it just seems to be letting the side down.
Of course, I have written to Mozilla and have received the usual explanation - nothing.
I'm tempted to go back to Internet Explorer, but I just thought I would ask and see whether this was just down to me or was down to Firefox.
My thanks for any light anyone can shine on this most baffling of issues.

Check preferences
The voting widget won't work properly if you don't allow cookies or have javascript turned off. Check your preferences in Firefox to see if they have been changed. Some virus protection programs reach right into your browser and change your preferences for you if you say you want "strict" security or some such.
Other than that, I haven't heard anyone else reporting this problem and I have been unable to duplicate it here except by not allowing cookies.
Wild off-chance unlikely as hell explanation: if you have a dynamic IP address from your ISP, someone else using the same IP address has already voted on the stories you want to vote on.
Suggestion: download Safari or Chrome and just try to vote with one of them. They don't work internally anything like either IE or Firefox, so if there is some other sort of problem, you may get some more info.
Hugs,
Erin

Chrome
I'll try Chrome for a nice bright shiny browser :)
Thanks

Thank you, Erin
I've got chrome and I have to say, it's pretty good.
It lets me vote and I'm also hoping that other elements on other websites that weren't available to me before, will be now.
I'll have to give it a thorough spanking over the next day or so!
Thanks boss

Chrome - FWIW
I was playing with Chrome, and tried some posting previews while getting ready to start posting PB's next Gaby fanfic. No matter what I did, the displayed preview came out in bold type. Erin pointed out that as Chrome is a beta app for now, there isn't much she can do to "fix" the "problem". So for now I'm still going to post here using IE, whose quirks I'm used to.
If you do post with Chrome, let us know how it works.

Problems with Firefox 3.5
I've been informed privately that several people have been having minor but weird problems with the latest release of FIrefox 3.5. Maybe a new release will fix them for everyone.
Google's Chrome, BTW, under the hood is the same engine as Apple's Safari except that Google wrote their own javascript handler. Otherwise, 95% of the differences between the two are cosmetic. Chrome is still in Beta which means they want to keep fiddling with it. Both are comparable to Firefox and IE for utility and much more secure against exploits than IE, and both are faster than any other free browser.
Hugs,
Erin

3.5.0 did have some probems, but
the current 3.5.5 seems to have fixed them, at least for me.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Firefox
I've updated to 3.5.5 too, and so far it seems to be working much better. It still has a tendency to crash if I leave the browser open for an extended period, meaning several hours, but otherwise everything is fine.

If you can't vote, how about just sending money (or kisses)?
