Maddy Bell's blog

Read all about it!

Hi
the keen amongst you will have spotted the new Gaby chapter here today already but for everyone else click here http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/55484/gaby-book-11-cha...

Thanks for all your recent messages regarding the website and writing, all taken on board. I've decided to do the next Nena tale before banging on with Gaby, the first chapter is with my editing team now so it might be ready for Easter - in my dreams but certainly not long afterwards!

Thank you

for all your feedback regarding my scribbling. Clearly Gaby is most peoples favourite series but there were plenty of votes for Nena and Peaches too. I will start something new this week but don't hold your breath, it could be a few weeks before anything is ready for release.

On a slight tangent, as the website is getting a complete makeover is there anything that people would like to see incorporated?

Feedback Required

There is a new Gaby chapter up today and behind the scenes there are positive things happening with the website.

What I need feedback on is my scribbling - should I concentrate on writing more Gaby, Nena, Peaches or something else entirely?

let me know.

The ftp issues continue!

Clearly there is some external issue as it worked first try Sunday but midweek its not interested! Hopefully by the weekend my site will be updated with new reading and some exciting news for all the Gabfen.

There is a new chapter here on BC but you might have noticed the lack of breaks in recent chapters. Its not because of lack of code but it seems to be being ignored, does anyone know of any issues with
coding here on BC?

latest

It looks like I'm back in business with my site, why do software writers think we need more complex stuff to do simple tasks?

As regards logging in here at BC I'm no further along, as I've deleted my original links etc and started from scratch I can't see that theres anything else I can do? Surely I'm not the only one having these issues which only started after the last BC upgrade?

update

So okay there's a new chapter up here, I am however still having log in issues here on BC and can't upload new stuff to Maddybell.com either.

I've tried everything people have suggested without success so it looks like its end of the line for me posting stuff for free - i'll give it till the end of the month but after that I'm not wasting any more of my precious time on this planet trying to fix stuff. Doesn't mean I stop writing but the couple of hours I spend doing site updates will be better spent doing other things.

Does anyone know why I have to do a 'forgotten password' thing to log in here each time? I haven't forgotten the password but the system doesn't recognise it - every time! Its getting a bit annoying now.

Update and new release

I seem to be having issues getting my ftp uploader to work so I can't update my site!

I have managed to complete Gaby's Comfort Food - a real cook book written by our heroine! It should be available for Kindle shortly but you can get the full colour print version here;

http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/gabys-comfort-foo...

or as a pdf here;

Snow Go

The white stuff has visited these parts several times this week, the current load being the biggest fall since Christmas. It has been pretty cold with it, temperatures struggling to get into positive numbers - am i glad for the central heating! I'm working hard on the Gaby cook book - it's forcing me to do some cooking, i enjoy doing it but i'm generally rather bone idle! I'm not going to tell you what i've been cooking, you'll find out when i'm done but i am about halfway through the menu!

Slow Start

Its turning out to be a slow start to 2015, a combination of nasty weather and seasonal unhealthiness is keeping me from doing much on two wheels and stuff like exploding microwaves has meant expense i could've done without! on the plus side i'm entered in 3 sportives so far with a further two in the diary awaiting entry information, i've started my retro bike project and the summer holiday planning is coming along nicely. Not only that but the current writing project is coming along nicely, i'm hoping to have it ready by the end of the month.

Hello 2015!

So here we are, 2015 and the start of a year which promises to be every part as exciting as 2014. The immediate news is that i've fixed the problems with last weeks chapter link and Culture Clash is now available in the full version for your Kindle, as a pdf and a paperback.

Rather than give a timetable here are my aims for scribbling for 2015
•Gaby Cookbook
•New Nena story
•Gaby book 14
•completion of Anja & the Druid

I would like to do more than this but its very dependant on available time!

A question

for you all. With the change in EU law regarding taxation points, prices on Amazon Kindle are all over the place! This can make buying the content a price lottery depending on which platform you buy through.

Should I just let things be or should I set specific prices? Obviously exchange rates can affect the pricing dramatically too so the latter option would 'normalise' your price somewhat.

Let me know what you think

Advent

So my visit with friends in Germany has been and gone, i visited something like twenty Christmas market sites, collected a similar number of Gluhwein mugs and pretty much had a good time eating and drinking and just soaking up the seasonal atmosphere. I've updated the Gluhwein mug directory and the Christmas Market gazzeteer if you fancy a mooch. Of course i was accompanied by Gaby so a click here will take you to a photo gallery featuring the Wunderkind.

Yep, me and the wunderkind are back from our jollies so rather than make you wait until Wednesday I thought you'd like a new chapter to read.

Wednesday (apart from being the works Xmas bash) will see a report on said trip, pictures of course and more stuff to read.

Until then,
tschussie!

As I mentioned last time i'm away for the next couple of Wednesdays so this week you get three chapters on my website! Take your time over them, they have to last a long time! The next chapter is here, you'll need to follow the links from there.

See you in December,

Quiet

Indeed, after several quite hectic weeks this current seven day has been very quiet, no trips, no deadlines, work has been exceptionally quiet too. The weather has been quite poor, fog, rain and otherwise overcast which hasn't helped my chesty cold one iota! in short its typical November weather.

It does mean that I've got five Gaby chapters written so the next run is well on schedule for its end of month release.

Of course its only two weeks before my Rheinland Weinachtsmarkt trip and just five weeks until the day itself - where did the year go?

Remembered

After celebrating the failure of terrorists and frightening the spirits, this week, in Europe at least we've been remembering the dead of two world wars and more recent conflicts. Today we aren't threatened by other nations but by extremists hiding behind religion to kill and terrorise the innocent and force their idealogy on others, our military personel continue to die in the pursuit of peace, we should thank them and remember their selfless sacrifice on our behalf.
