Firstly, I'd like to thank Jessica Nicole for her kind assistance with the dialogue in the scene from Brandon's German language class.
The next chapter of Whose Irish Eyes Be Smiling? is well under way for those of you who are still waiting for it. Also, I'm trying to make progress rewriting a few tales stolen along with my smartphone.
For those of you who wonder why this chapter took so long, I'm recovering from surgery on my right shoulder for a torn rotator cuff. My arm is now out of the sling and I'm slowly beginning to use it again.
Today is the first day for the celebration of same-sex marriages in Minnesota. R.T. Rybak, the Mayor of Minneapolis, began a marathon session of weddings in Minneapolis City Hall at 12:01am and continued performing them personally until after 6:00am. A number of judges from Hennepin County also performed nuptial ceremonies. One ceremony was also performed at the Mall of America's Wedding Chapel.
Governor Mark Dayton signed into law today a bill passed by the Minnesota Legislature authorizing marriage between partners of the same sex. The law takes effect August 1st.
The Minnesota Senate passed a bill authorizing same-sex marriage today. The Minnesota House had passed the same bill Friday. Governor Mark Dayton has said that he will sign it in a ceremony tomorrow. This would make Minnesota the twelfth state to authorize same-sex marriage.
