Test
IF I recall correctly, she was working towards getting her electricians certificate back and upgraded so she could get work as an inspector. She was worried cause there were so few females in the job, and the hassles she might expect. Glad things are working out Gwen.
Good For You Gwen, I am Happy For You, But One Question
What exactly are you talking about? Are you in school or got your electricians license.
May Your Light Forever Shine
May Your Light Forever Shine
In the before time...
I'd had a long career as an Electrician, Electrical Contractor, Home Remodeler, Inspector, you know, all that male stuff. :) Through a series of misfortunes, I transitioned, was declared incompetent, had surgery and all that. But then much to everyone's surprise, I began to get well, but I had allowed my licenses to expire.
Now, I am getting all that re-instated. It has been really difficult to accomplish and I have been the biggest whiny baby about it all! Probably should have been put in my crib and corked with a bottle. LOL
Gwen
I'm shocked

I always knew
you were a bright spark, or was that a live wire? Now perhaps you can get on with your fuse-ture, without any more short circuits or black outs.
Good luck,
Angharad

Remember, Gwen, in wiring ...
connect the black wire to the white wire.
Or is that what you NEVER should do?

Now go forth and electrify!
Congratulations, Gwen.

New beginnings
I had one, too. Later in life, after I shed a lot of issues and problems (of the non-TG kind). The biggest thing was the 2 years I spent getting a pardon from the governor for an old drug-related felony. My new late-life career was a big part of the authentic new me. It was hard being new, when I was old. Hard being an orientee with the 20-somethings. It was hard thinking about all the years wasted before I shed my various issues. But life can be about better late than never. Life is so precious, so many others have failed where you have succeeded. And I know it is corny to say, but adversity does make us stronger and wiser. Damn, you will be one of the wisest, toughest, and certainly most interesting electricians out there! (And hopefully make some money, too....although the downturned housing industry might present an uphill battle for now, huh?)
Congratulations
Way to go, Gwen!
Oregon will be better
for having you on the job, congrats, Arecee
Over here in UK
There is a shortage of tradespeople who do a decent job for a realistic day's pay. More women are employing women (so we don't get ripped off most of the time or landed with shoddy work) and there are more women on many of the practical college courses.
I only employ people who are recommended to me so once I find someone good, I tell all my friends. It takes a while but you get there in the end.
BTW many congrats - good to see more 'girl power'.

Never had a doubt in my mind.
I knew you could do it, once you set your mind to the fact that you had to do it. Way to go, Gwen. I'm proud of you, and proud to have you as a friend. Onward and upward girl!
