I lit a candle for my brother today

I lit a candle for my brother in church today.

My day started with me in tears as I went to church, because as it is Father's day, I found myself missing my dad something awful.
But the service was all about celebrating men, and reminding us that masculinity comes from God, and when it is submitted to God, it is something good, something worth celebrating.

Then, the people were invited to light a candle for a man in their life, whether he was a father or just someone special to them.
So I lit a candle for my brother, who when my dad died took over his role as much as any 7 year old could have done. He guided me, protected me, and even when I had hurt him badly he forgave me.

And he loved me then, and he loves me even now.

And I couldn't be prouder of the man he has become.

So I was only to happy to light a candle for him today.

If you had a man in your life - a father, stepfather, brother, uncle, or whoever, if he is gone, think some good thoughts about him today. If he had done you wrong, forgive him, and even if its just for one day, find something good in him.

And if he is still in your life, try to be kind to him, and if its at all possible, do something good for him.

And have a good Father's day, everybody.
