Still haven't seen any improvement, but my cat has shown a lot of spunk. Last night when I opened the door to go for work, she dragged herself outside while I wasn't watching. It is horrendously sad to see. She hasn't went potty for 2 days now, but is at least eating and drinking. I guess the best thing is things haven't gotten worst but I am so scared. I cried over her for an hour. I just don't know what to do and I can't fix it and that makes me feel useless and worthless.
I am going to give it a week and take her back to the vet. I don't know what I'm going to do, but I feel like I'm being cruel. She can't do anything and she really wants to, I can tell. This is so senseless. She isn't hurt, she just can't move her legs. I was going to make a video, but I don't have the heart to see her dragging her rear legs. Oh, and her tail ain't working either.
I am so depressed. I wish I could stop crying. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes.

I 2 love my pets & feel for you I almost lost 1 of my dogs about 3 months ago so I know what you are going thru. He still is terminal just not his time yet & he is doing better for now.

I Couldn't Have Watched That Video
I don't know how many of us could have watched that video, Katie. I certainly couldn't.
I empathise deeply with your pain, and long for a favourable outcome. Love one cat, love them all.

Can she urinate? Does she have any bladder control?
Keep her clean. Warm damp terry cloth would approximate what her tongue does.
If she is not releasing ANY urine or fecal matter, be it consciously or without any control then she is in VERY bad shape.
A cat that doesn't urinate for 48 hours is at risk of death from their kidneys failing.
Happened to a male cat of ours.
If she soils herself at least her kidneys and digestive track are okay.
All you can do is keep her clean comfortable an hope the cat recovers.
If she starts panting and it's not due to the heat get to the vet immediately, That is a bad sign.
If finaces are a problem some vets have hardship help or your local Humane Society or a no kill shelter may be able to help even if only to euthanize the cat out of kindness to it.
I pray for the best but thohhg not a vet my own experience with our animals tells me this is bad.

I understand how you feel
I've lost cats to kidney disease and distemper. I cried harder about losing them than when my parents passed away.
The symptoms you described for Madeline sound like a cat I had a couple of years ago. The vet said that he had had a heart problem and that a blood clot must have paralyzed his rear legs and tail.
I hope that Madeline gets better.
Katie's Cat Woes
While I love (most) dogs too, I'm very much a cat person, although I hate seeing any animal in pain or suffering (except spiders and snakes, they can go screw themselves). I only have my 15 year old tabby now (my Pomeranian died a few years ago), and I will sure miss cuddling with her when she goes.
Katie, I have no idea what I'd do if my Boots had your cat's problem. I guess all you can do is keep doing your best to take care of her and hope she gets better. If, over time, it's obvious she's not getting better or is even getting worse, you have to do something most "animal friends" (sounds nicer than "animal owners") have to do, decide when her quality of life (and chance of recovering it) are so low that it is, as you say, cruel to keep them going just because we can't stand to lose them, and we have to put on big girl panties and make the hard decisions, like having them put down.
I was in my teens when we had to do that with our family dog, which I'd grown up with. She was 16 and half blind and started throwing up bile and the vet said it was cancer. Maybe I was just an emotional teen, but I swear that dog knew she was dying. You could see it in her eyes. And as she got worse, we just knew it was cruel to keep her going, so we made the decision as a family to have her put down. I was with her when we did it. After she got the needle, she looked relieved. She gave my hand one more lick, put her head down, and she was gone. I'm crying again just remembering it. But under the circumstances, we all felt we did the right thing.
I hope you won't have to do that. I hope your baby recovers. But if not, you have a decision before you. The timing sucks, no doubt about it, with all the other stress in your life. But we have a responsibility to our animal friends. Good luck, Katie.

From the past with a cat that needed a chiropractic adjustment to there back. After the adjustment the cat was fine. If your cat landed wrong or suffered any number of injuries for this to happen. This is just an idea to check out.
