Made someone cry

I didn't mean to do it. It wasn't my intention. In fact I didn't see it coming. But talking with someone last night they said they were reading over my work and it made them cry. I don't think there is a greater compliment then bringing tears to someone's eyes, especially when the scene isn't a sad one.

When I made the biological dad run over the Gatorade bottle in God Bless the Child, I knew people would be sad and upset, that was by design. When Jenny was being tortured in Finding Jenny, I knew people were going to be mad, that was by design as well. But sometimes you write something that people get so emotionally wrapped up in, they cry at the good parts. To me, that means I must be doing something write (or really really bad, but let's be positive for a change). I am honored and touched that my writing has that kind of affect on another human being.

I really try my hardest to produce high quality stuff and when I see it isn't as popular as others, I get down on myself because evidently I didn't do what I intended good enough. It still confuses me that The Dress Punishment is my most popular story (by kudos and probably in a month on the reads counter as well) because I put so little of myself into it compared to my epic length novels that take careful planning. Hopefully by the new year my new novel will be smoothed out enough that I can start sharing it with you, the attention seeking whore in me is tied up in a dark closet but I can hear her having conniptions.

My plan, as it sits, is to continue working on my novel until the 10th. If it is not done by then (God I am hoping another 25k words can wrap this puppy up), I will put it on the side and work on some Christmas stuff.

Speaking of Christmas stuff. A long time ago I produced a little story called the Christmas Diary. It is available on this site, but it feels very lonely because it has no Kudos, if you have time, maybe you would like to check it out. Maybe not. Maybe you think it is a better time to play solitaire or go through your spam folder in an email account you haven't used in the last three months. What do I know? I don't exist. I'm just words on a screen. Have a good day. Or don't if you don't want to. It was just a suggestion. You know what, just forget it, who am I to tell you what kind of day to have anyway. Have a 24 hour span of whatever you want, or don't, who's to say a day should have 24 hours. Maybe my day has 24 hours but you chose to make yours have only 30 minutes, if you use minutes. I decided I don't want hours, so I have 24 Prawns in a day. (It's happened, I've gone mad. I'm going to spend the next 2 prawns pretending I'm an olive and dunk myself in and out of my hot tub. It's okay, my hot tub is pretending it's a martini, so it all works out.)

Well... it's great that your stories are touching people. Your writing obviously has the effect you intended.

I'm not sure why people seem reluctant to read your stories... I can only speak for myself. Reading is escapism for myself, si I'm not very likely to read epic lenghs real life stories.

It can be very therapeutic to write one's frustrations off the soul, but on the other hand other people might be less likely to be interested in it. I guess a dark short story isn't so bad, but a novella or a novel might be too much for most people. It's just my speculation though, I can't speak for others.

K.T. Reading Your Stores

Will make most anyone cry, or get mad for your character. It is a sign of being a great writer/authoress.
