Hey guys I'm new to this site and I'm new to TG fiction as well (I'm also new to writing fiction in general) I was wondering I y'all could give me a little help. What kinds of changes (physical, mental, emotional, social, and situational) would a teenage boy face after magically turning into a girl? I understand of course that some of the ways he is effected will depend on what kind of person he is but if y'all could help me with general ideas of what he would face I would be very grateful.
By the way the story I am currently writing is A Boy and His Dog, of which I will be posting chapter 7 soon. The main character has just had an involuntary gender change.

it would depend on a lot of things
like why was he transformed? what kind of girl does he become? Ie: a normal girl, or a bimbo or something else? can he move back and forth, or is he stuck? is there a theme to the story, or a moral? (Ie: he gets transformed, hates it, but has to learn forgiveness of the transformer?) his life could be much better as a girl, or much worse, or pretty much the same, depending on the tone you're shooting for, and when you answer those questions, you'll have your story.

I was asking more for external differences rather than internal. What I mean is rather than their state of mind how will the change effect there life. i.e. they have softer skin, or cloths fit differently, or how a different center of gravity effects them, Things of that nature. I have picked up on a few of these differences from reading stories here, but never having been a girl I am sure I am missing things.

most women are treated as second class citizens by males, their opinions or advice ignored occasionally, men look at women differently. Women are relegated to lesser duties, lesser pay than men, doing domestic work (This is not for all. This is what a lot of women are put through by men).
Women are also subject to sexual harassment more often, usually cannot fight back like a man (especially when being assaulted), are more often a victim of kidnapping and sexual abuse and are less likely to be outdoors during night hours.
Breasts, depending on size can range from being great to a complete nuisance trying to do anything sitting down with your arms. The way they run is different because of the pelvic /hip structure. And the one thing women do, that men don't: pregnancy.
But, I believe the psychological aspect of being a woman is more traumatic in a mtf unwilling transition (magical or surgical) than the physical.

On the physical front, softer and more sensitive skin is generally the norm, but as with real life, there's probably a high degree of variability.
The most noticable change will obviously be the various aspects of the different body shape: centre of gravity, weight distribution, breasts, the change in equipment 'down below' (which of course involves a different procedure when visiting the toilet); possibly wider hips / spaced legs. Usually this coincides with a dramatic increase in hair length (it's fairly common for the boy's close crop to grow out to shoulder length or below, and typically they're prevented from cutting it back [if at all], not even to a bob or pixie).
The next most obvious change will be in clothing - most of their previous clothing will no longer fit; underwear will obviously be different (especially with the addition of a brassiere!), outer clothing will be styled and coloured differently. If the story's taking place in modern day Western society, they can probably get away without crossing the hurdle of tights (pantyhose) / skirts / dresses (although some schools that have unifroms still don't allow girls the option of wearing trousers)... unless it's a bodyswap type transformation (i.e. where they find the girl they've become previously existed, whereby it's common for them to have to adopt the girl's mannerisms / behaviour / dress sense to avoid being discovered).
On the mental / emotional level, the world's your oyster. Sometimes it's purely a physical transformation (so they're left to cope on their own), sometimes it's accompanied by a built-in sense of acceptance, sometimes (particularly in body swap transformations) they find the body comes with an 'auto-pilot' (i.e. many of the autonomous actions, e.g. getting showered / dressed, are built-in and they'll do them automatically as long as they don't think about it; if/when they do, that's when the panic sets in).
For many, their first instinct will be "How do I reverse this?"; even if/when they realise it's permanent, some will fight it all the way, some will 'go with the flow' and do their best to adapt; some will take the proverbial plunge into the deep end (even if they never had T* feelings before, they feel the best way to adapt is to dive in head first, believing the more overboard they go, the quicker they'll adapt. Which can have varying outcomes...)
Once all that's dealt with, there's the tricky issue of relationships - both platonic and romantic. If they find their new body is androphilic, they may struggle to reconcile their mind (still set in male gynephilic patterns) with their body's desire. If they find their new body is gynephilic (i.e. lesbian), there's the whole issue of the extent to which they need to suppress it. In a fairly liberal setting in the modern day, that may not be such a problem. If they're in a very traditionalist setting, society may force them to seek out a male companion, even if they detest the idea. Needless to say, the ultimate horror for someone transformed as part of a revenge plot is to find themselves in the body of a prostitute.
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!
Embarrassment
Teenagers are very concerned about acceptance and fitting in, and if a teenage boy was suddenly turned into a girl, he'd likely be nervous about what everyone would think. He'd wonder how/if he could hide the change. He'd feel sure that people would laugh at him. If it's a world like ours, people would assume that he was only cross-dressing, and there might be some fear there that guys would beat him up for that.
Then there is the question of his life before. What was he doing? Was he on the football team? He'd be worried that he couldn't play. Did he have a girlfriend, or a girl he was interested in? He'd be upset about how the change would affect that.
It all depends on your story, though. Is he at home when it happens? On vacation, where he knows no one? At school, where everyone sees it happen?
So many possibilities...
If it's magic...
...then the answer is whatever you want it to be.
Surprisingly, you don't actually get magical transformations in real life so there's nothing to compare it with to say it's either right or wrong.

You know I think I went about asking my question in the wrong way. I'm not so much interested in what would happen to someone who changed gender magically, as I am looking for the difference between boys and girls, to put the question in it's most basic form. And yes I do know they are different in that way, sheesh. :P The psychological implications I think I can take care of, it's just the catalysts I'm more interested in.

What do you mean exactly?
Female's tend to grow less body hair, though they CAN grow it in all the same areas as a male, it TENDS to be around the front of the lower legs, forearms, armpits, and a little patch above their vagina.
Their skin is thinner, softer, and more porous.
They tend to get a more "all around" thin layer of fat with a slightly higher concentration in the breasts, butt, thighs and upper arms as opposed to the male tendency towards a dense layer of blubber across the chest and a "pot belly".
There's of course the obvious difference in the sexual organs...
Women and men also THINK differently, but that's really something that's hard to define precisely... If you're a woman you just think a certain way and you can't really explain to a guy how you think just like how a guy can't explain to a woman how they think.

I've noticed a drop in my physical strength, women have a slightly better sense of smell and taste than men, the sense of balance is slightly different, women also tend to be more sensitive to touch (its one reason the fabric in women's clothes is often softer), and then there are the differences between the plumbing, too.
*If* the transformation
*If* the transformation doesn't compensate for it, and if the breasts are of any size, he'll be wondering about the backaches he'll start getting (8especially if he isn't wearing a bra).
Ask any CD/TV about the way their back feels after wearing their breast forms all day if they haven't done it for a while.
Also, given that the hips are likely wider, and the "chest" sticks out farther, he's going to be hitting them on things because his "body sense" (ie the instinctive awareness of where the various parts of your body are in relation to each other) is still using the "model" from his *old* body.
And if this results in banging or scraping his nipples, he's going to be in *real* pain.
This will be in addition to the general clumsiness from different center of gravity and different arm/leg/body lengths.

The "compensation" that the magic could provide could be as simple as just giving the character perfect posture.
My understanding about breasts and back pain is that whether you're wearing a bra or not, the only way you'll get back pain because of your breasts is if you have poor posture. Of course, most people do these days.

Terrified and full of hatred towards his new, weak body.
Shorter, smaller, with less muscle. Treated as a sex object. Expected to match crazy appearance and behaviour standards. Expected to enjoy sex with something going INSIDE him.
Not treated seriously by his male ex-peers.
A boobjob at first opportunity to get rid of those lumps on his chest.
I'd give the boy a month at most before the first suicide attempt. Within the first week most likely.
