I left my home about 20 minutes ago to make a quick stop at the grocery store. When I came out of the store, I clicked my remote to unlock my car doors and, as I got in, I clicked it again to lock them. As I inserted the key to start the car, someone came up on the passenger side and tried to open the door. I looked over to see a male pulling on the door handle. He shouted that I better open the door or... I didn't stick around to hear the rest. I dropped the car into drive and floored the gas pedal, almost hitting two other cars on the way.
I called the Police on my cell and told them what happened and gave them a description of the guy, as best as I could. I'm waiting at home now to see if they call me to tell me they caught the jerk. It's likely he ran away but I hope they get the asshole. He scared the crap out of me.
The lesson here? ALWAYS, ALWAYS lock your doors!!! If I hadn't, he would have gotten the door open for God knows what reason. Thank God I always lock my doors the second I'm fully into the car, and thank God I didn't hit anyone in my escape.

Wow, that's a really frightening experience. I hope they catch him. I'd be nervous just going back to that grocery store in the future.
Which store was it?
I was about to ask you which store it was but then I looked at the clock and realized it is probably dark there. Wow, sorry that happened to you.

Hmm
I have never had such an experience ever. The only time anyone has come to my car is either my boss as I'm about to leave or the police.
locks
I always lock my door in cars because of car jacking reports and bums love to crawl into unlocked cars. I always have homeless people knocking on my car windows and tell them go away without lowering the window because I do not carry cash.

Lessons
Lesson learned THANKS for making us think about locking our door most of us would not think of doing that. I am glad you didn't learn the lesson the hard way GLAD YOU ARE OK -- HUGS RICHIE2
Yet ANOTHER close call for me!
Catherine Linda Michel, you have just given everybody the best advice to prevent unwanted people fro getting into your vehicle, and why a good security feature is an auto lock whenever the driver closes his/her door. After all, the driver can always unlock said door[s]
