I just thought I would mention this as it has been a great help to me. The Natural Reader program is a free download easily found on the net. Since I write and well enjoy it, I also strive to make my story's an easy read. Sometimes saying what you mean and meaning what you say can get lost in the writing. There is nothing like having someone read back to you what you have written, if just to see what it sounds like. The Natural Reader is not a great quality program but, it has the advantage of reading exactly what you wrote, as opposed to what you thought you wrote...lol. I have enjoyed using it and for me it has been a good aid in the edit process. My very best wishes to all. Joe

I know what you mean
I know what you mean. Hearing your words spoken back to you is a big writer's aid - allowing you to check your grammar, your composition, the flow of the story, even the feel of the story altogether. Even if the voice is a bit robotic...
I got to use IBM's ViaVoice when it was new (IBM pioneered the Personal/Home Use application of voice engines), and Via Voice was one of the first ones (if not the first) when it came out wayyyy back in the early 2000's. And I have it on my office desktop and laptop.
Lately, though, I am more of an IOS user (what with me carrying my iPad everywhere), and I now prefer using an app called "SpeakIt!"
I'm even gonna use ViaVoice and SpeakIt! in an upcoming posting of mine (shhh! don't tell anyone!).
