Just transferred chapter 1 of Mares Talers over from FM.
I'm carrying on with Mermaid but frankly there are virtually no comments these days so I'm winding it up after a few more brief chapters. Frankly, I think I'm getting a bit stale and this is reflected in the paucity of comments. I'm also running short of ideas after 197 story chapters on FM plus whatever here on BC.

I don't think stale is a good word to describe you or your work. I admit up front that I have only read bits and pieces here and there of the last couple of stories you have done, but it's not because you are stale or they are bad or old. It's just lack of time. I can't even stay current with the short stories coming in, much less longer stories, or even have a chance to re-read old favorites. And the holidays only make it a lot worse. I only work part time status..... yeah so, it's only an hour short of what they class full time status, so they don't have to pay any benefits, but it's just not there any more. I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat. So, don't be offended or disconsolate, please.

I'm sorry, I used to be a big fan of 'the angry mermaid', but it just went on too long ^_^' I kind of stopped reading sometime after Drustina left her sisters behind. Not that the story was bad, but to me it felt like an ending. I'm a sucker for the identity crisis thing and that was mainly over now that she accepted herself. The fact that the other 2 main characters stopped being a (big?) part of it, also made me slowly lose interest in it.
It might still have been a great story, but to me it lasted too long. It's my loss I guess the things I have missed after that, but there are a lot of stories to read and not only on the internet :--).
I do hope you don't stop writing in general just because you don't get many reactions... I've read some of your other stuff and although most isn't my kind of thing, there are some good ones there ^^ and even the ones I don't like are well written for the parts that i've read.
So I hope I didn't dissapoint you too much as a reader.

I contnue to enjoy Mermaid
but I agree in our rush rush lives a lengthy tale is hard to find time for but DO I manage for yours.
If you are losing interest in it yourself then by all means give it a good ending or at least *park* it in a place where it is not incomplete.
The last few chapters seem to be progressing swiftly but logically to an ending IE the battle for her old homelands or her of despair at what has become of them.
Your heroine is most driven, so she claims, to get back what was lost to the Viking raiders. Yet in her quest to do so she has left her family , or what remains of i, scattered all over the Mediterranean, left children behind, a lover, well two if you count the co-pharaoh, three counting the upper Nile Queen Four if you count the girl they rescued from the Vikings.
Mind you all were left in important an powerful positions where they will have great influence on the future. But what of her when her quest is over, what then will drive her? Will mother hood and boat building be enough? Perhaps teaching her children and others to handle a boat as well as a sword. OIn other words once she gets her land back and avenges her dead family and friends what will she have to hold on to?
That may be her biggest challenge of all.
What I am saying is, your story is appreciated. But write what YOU WANT.
