Well, today was not one of my better days. First, I went to go to the local library to get some stuff printed out, I decided to go in male mode because later I would have to pick up my ex, and I didn't feel like having to change in hurry when I came home. As it happened, it was a good thing I did, because I actually ran into my ex and my daughter in the mall. My ex was buying my daughter a small fish, so that's why they were there. But it felt like a close call, and it reminded me I'm going to not be able to pull off this double life forever, and I am no closer to having the courage to do something about that. Then, after I finished with her, and having the night off, I decided to take in a movie, as Dorothy. So I went to see "Another Earth", and the ticket lady called me "sir". I was wearing makeup, a skirt, and carrying a purse, but I guess it wasn't enough. Sigh.

Don't give in

Just think about the person inside and assume the ticket lady was just being nasty.
You cared enough about your ex and your daughters feelings but who cares about your feelings? Just let your own conscience be your guide and dress how you feel when you get up in a morning like everybody else does. So did you enjoy the film and what's it about?
Imagine the poor ticket lady has to sit there whilst you enjoy yourself.
Now how does that song go?
When you get in trouble and you feel you're doing wrong
Give a little whistle! Give a little whistle!
Don't think of giving in to them, even if the urge is very strong
Give a little whistle! Give a little whistle!
Not just a little squeak, pucker up and blow
And if your whistle's weak, yell, "Jiminy Cricket!"
Right!
You're on the straight and narrow path
And if you start to slide
Give a little whistle! Give a little whistle!
And always let your conscience be your guide
JIMINY CRICKET!!!!!!
Next time just say what a British comedian used to say 'Oh, you are awful.' Then they'll feel bad not you.

Good and bad days...and people.
There are people who try to call you by the gender you're presenting as, even if they know. And on the other end of the spectrum, you'll get the rude asshats like that ticket lady. No class at all. And in her self-righteous mind, we're the freaks.
I bet you look better than I do, Dorothy. I'd probably be called sir even by the supportive, tolerant, accepting folks. :P
Damn, I started this intending to cheer you up. Maybe I should have looked for someone who doesn't suffer from bouts of depression to do that... Sorry. :)

(Another Earth? I'll take one where magic works, and I have a book of transformation spells...)
