Well, I managed to avoid most of the coverage of the Royal wedding. My reasons for this were not because of any Republican sentiments I may carry, but more raw emotions. I couldn't have born seeing that beautiful bride and that exquisite gown without being almost lost to envy. I have a wonderful girlfriend, but its hard to imagine that I will ever be a bride. But, I have to be grateful for what I do have, don't I?

We all have our buttons
And it is easy for those who are not in your position and with your limitations and/or issues to say it aint so but we all have issues in one area or another.
I am suggesting that you keep it in perspective. As an example, many T-girls have severe envy towards other T-girls who are so incredibly beautiful and passable. So, does one avoid meeting them at a support group or something or think less of them thinking they have it so easy and any advice coming from their direction means less cause one does not think that they can even understand those that are less passable?
It can very hard to be happy for people who have something one wants desperately, but learning to be gracious to those who do is a lesson in respect imho for one's self and for others.
I grew up under very modest though not poor circumstances so dealing with envying other kids having better toys or better looks or better clothes etc was a common occurrence for me. And to parallel what you said, my parents emphasized that we do have enough and to appreciate it.

I wanted to see the dress, which was gorgeous and I had the sniffles when they took their vows--I always do at weddings.
However, why we all have moments of envy, I read a very sad case of a young kid in South Wales, an absolutely beautiful young woman,who did part time modelling - who stepped in front of a train over Easter, it seems deliberately.
While life can usually get better, we can't judge others without knowing the full facts and although we might envy them, we only envy what we see or want, we don't take in the full picture, because we rarely envy them their troubles or pain.

If I see one more picture of that wedding dress I'm going to blow a gasket. I, too, cannot bear to watch someone else get married. I don't want to see it or hear about it or even think about it. I don't even have a girlfriend. I am hopelessly single. ::Sigh. Lisa picks up her cross, slings it back over her shoulder and trudges on down the road to . . . only Goddess knows where.::

I hope my earlier response wasn't too snippy
On Friday, April 22, the girl I'd been in love with moved away to Colorado because she got a job there. The very next day was my sister's wedding (in which I was the maid of honor). I had a double whammy I guess. On the bright side, I kept a smile on my face during my sister's wedding and avoided making it about me, thank goodness.
