Religious WHAT!
Why all this sensitivity about religion all the sudden? Most of my stories have Muslim content in them, but in a non proseletisimy way. Did I spell that right? Is it even a word? Proselytizingie maybe? Ah well, I give up, besides none of it makes any sense unless you have um issues, right?
I'll go to my room now.

It's really about the person behind the faith
I'm of the mind that this site is so safe and protective; folks who might otherwise not say anything are just being themselves. We have all kinds of folks here; believers, non-believers, Buddhists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, people of faith and people with no faith at all save for their belief in the human spirit, making a nice community that is united in its commonality rather than divided by its diffrences. And it's a nice place to be for those of us who may have been rejected by their places and fellowships of worship, but have chosen to hold to their faith.
Almost all of what I read here reminds me of the diversity of this wonderful site, and the folks here of faiths, for the most part, only state their faith as a way of telling others who they are. Like Eric Liddell in Chariots of Fire, for my own sake, I hold on tenaciously to my faith. To paraphrase him,
I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me writer. And when I write I feel His pleasure.
No one else need believe what I believe, but it's helpful to know where I and all of us come from...our frame of reference. It suits me and it is part of who I am, so it is also part of what I write. Thanks, dear one.

Okay, I have a faith
but clean my teeth religiously night and morning.
I know that I'm splitting hairs but, seriously, I don't have any hangups about other faiths, religions or whatever you like to call them.
One of my best friends is Roman Catholic and another is Buddhist; so what? We can even talk to each other without losing our tempers or raising our voices.
I don't care what you believe, as long as you don't ram it down my throat, or try to kill me because I don't believe what you believe.
Now you've got me intrigued; I'll have to read your post now.

Faith is as faith does!
What first got my attention at this website, since I'm not TGed, is that some writers here have a deeply abiding faith that permeates their stories. Dorothy Colleen is only one of those whose faith shapes her writing. At first I marveled that I found so many Christian themes here, but now, that I should seems quite natural.

do I pray?
No I do not, I am not a huge believer in the God as outlined by most mainstream religions. Such things seem far more human political than heavenly in my experience. Any God I could relate to would need one hell of a good sense of humour with an artist eye, most religions seem seriously deficient in this regard. Does this make me an atheist or whatever? No it does not. I am not anti religion, nor do I berate any that believe quite sincerely. If you choose to advocate a belief or line of thought in a 'story' or whatever, that's cool. No argument from me, I can read it and look at it and take what I will. The authors belief may indeed aid my understanding. Will it influence me? Probably not, but the looking at and thinking on will not hurt me nor do I react against it. Each to their own and so it should be. If I am free to be irreligious, so are you free to be a believer. Coffee? Or tea, let's not be un-inclusive. (is that a word?)

My personal faith is not anything extreme, but it's definately part of who I am. I just find it hard to believe, that random chance accounts for our existance. We must have some purpose.
If it's only to contribute to the advancement of the species, then maybe Darwin was right. If that's the case, then we have a v-e-r-r-r-y l-o-o-o-o-n-g way to go!
