To My Family…

In the event that this has gone unnoticed, I’ve acquired a ‘family’ here. ‘Acquired’ is a weird way to describe it. I’m not sure whether I found them or they found me. However, my family away from my family is quite complete. I have a mother, sister, brother, and father all in one person. I also have a Grandmother way down under (Hi Gram). I should write her more frequently but often time is a problem. So I sneak in behind her comments simply to let her know that I am there and thinking of her.

My family has been a major blessing in my life this past year. They have provided a loving stability to my life that I would not have otherwise had. Their love is unconditional, as is mine. And, once in a while, when I’m ‘scolded’ for being a wee bit of a brat, I take it for what it’s worth (which is plenty) and we go on from there. After all, they are usually right.

Just for the record, my birth mother has always been unavailable for me and my sisters. She’s currently in a Massachusetts State high security medical facility and will be there until she is ‘able to aid in her defense’. My step father was killed when someone caved his skull in with a cast ion frying pan (May his soul burn). My birth father (May his soul not wander) departed this life when I was six. My older sister has her own ‘troubles’ and my two younger sisters live in Ireland, where I’m currently visiting with them and my people. My own husband pasted last year along with one of my childhood guardians (May they both know eternal peace).

So one can see how important my family here is to me. Their kind words and gentle direction are my heart and soul’s blood. I can visualize them and truly feel their spirits and this is a great comfort to me in my self imposed exile. Their kindness will sustain me through the rest of my time in this country, and beyond the time I return home. My vision of them will be with me forever.

May the coming year be gracious and beneficial to them. May this New Year bring the blessing of strength, health, and full days. May this coming year see them whole in heart, mind, and spirit. May this New Year bring peace to their tables and may their tables be filled with their kin. And lastly, may all here be blessed in a like manner.

To A.D.L. and A.M.M. (and their families)…

Your loving Lil’ Brat
