I'm just curious, really.
Most of the names on the Users/Authors lists that appear on the right-hand column (my right-hand, that is) of my screen are in blue but a few are black. Most of the ones in black are people I've IM'd at some time or have IM'd me but I'm quite sure several are not. What determines which names appear in a different colour?

On-line Users and Authors List
It's very easy: The darker colour shows that your web browser marks that link as "already visited". So if a user/author name appears black you've been on their user profile page some time ago.

Same thing for stories and comment threads...
You can tell what you've visited or has been recently changed by the shifting colours.

You can change the colours of your "already visited" links
Hi Geoff,
To change the colours you have to go into your browser's "internet options". In IE there is a "colours" button on the "general" tab which opens a box where you can change the colours used for all hyperlink functions.

If you want them all the same colour again ...
Just clear your history. On most browsers, you can do that either globally, or via , selectively.

Thanks
I guessed it was something like that but there were several names I don't remember either visiting or viewing. I obviously did and I'm suffering a collective senior moment and simply forgotten.
The colour difference isn't a problem. It was, as I said, curiosity and now my curiosity has been satisfied I can sink back into the somnolent mood in which my life seems increasingly to descend :)
