Clicking on a link on one of Avia Conner's stories a minute later a second link popped up.
"Avia Conner has been added to your ignore list"
Say WHAT? Where did that come from? I had to go into my messages and ignore list (no one is on it except Avia) I swear MS is getting squirrley and more squirrely by the day. I've read before where someone was on a person's ignore list and the guilty party pleaded innocent. Well guess what boys and girls, MS gave you a hand in creating the ignore list. I was lucky I was still online when the message popped up. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to check your own lists to make sure the MS gremlins aren't helping you out also.

0 persons on your ignore list
I had an occasion some time back when I tried to access a story and I was informed the the author was on my ignore list. I went to my account and looked. I had 0 persons on my ignore list.
I closed the browser and restarted my computer and then came back and I had no problem accessing the story. (I used the hard reboot... rather than the "shutdown" button accessed from the Windows Icon... the one where you push and hold the power button until the computer goes off. Clears everything.)

Happened to me
This happened to me - randomly noticed when clicking on 'My Account' that bwahhh? I had ignored someone?!?
What's worse is that they were (are!) a very kind reader with whom I'd been exchanging wonderful messages, and yet somehow a few days later since our last exchange they were on my ignore list as the only entry. Fortunately I found it quick and they hadn't responded with anything more in the interim - but I was absolutely mortified when discovering it.
Computers tend to accumulate ...
Computers tend to accumulate various kinds of crud in memory as they run.
At some point, the crud can make various programs behave strangely or some things will fail silently.
I could type some techno-babble details ... but I would bore myself ...
That's why the >complete power< down and reboot often clears problems - the crud has been cleaned out.
And of course, first save all your work, and cleanly shut down as many programs and apps as you can.
The problem can also be at the "far end" - in our case, at BCTS. Our Admins will (very often correctly) blame it on "cache problems", and a lot of problems 'go away' when they 'clear the cache'. (Aside from main memory/RAM on the servers, cache is yet another place to accumulate 'crud'.)
Several years back, cache problems at BCTS put >everybody< on my ignore list ...
---
Had a friend who would call the Company IT people and say "I have problem 'X', and I have already rebooted twice." IT said "We will be right over." They all knew IT would start problem solving by rebooting her machine ...

One last thing.
Depends on exactly >how< you are viewing a story: PC or phone (these may be the worst), page width you picked picked, maybe what browser ... At the end of the story, the ++Bookmark and Ignore buttons may be very close together - a bit of bad aim with your mouse, and "ouch".
Windows
If running Windows default settings, the shut down and push the power button to boot again is not the best way to go nowadays from what I've been given to understand. Use 'Restart' instead. Because to make boot-up faster from being powered down, Windows under usual settings will cache all kinds of things and restore memory from that cache on power-up - including all the old gunk it accumulated. If you 'Restart' then it will actually clear the cache and do a full and fresh boot. There's a way to go in and turn this caching off, but most folks likely haven't.
