I have tried gluing on my breast forms a couple of times recently. It seems so simple in the stories I've read - and written. Instant gratification and a shapely figure, works every time! Not for me, within a few hours the darn things come loose leaving red, irritated skin patches that are painful and take a week or more to heal. I just figured I had a problem with the glue.
Then yesterday my bra managed to kink itself and at bedtime I had a nasty red patch once again. Then it clicked. At age 73 I have been noticing cuts and irritation here and there on my skin, having no idea where they came from. Not the glue - it's me, my aging body just can't stand the strain.
Oh well...

I know what you're talking about
I always thought it took longer to grow old. But I guess that is just perspective. I seem to have extra skin (especially around the neck and jowls) yet my weight is not going down.
You really only have one choice. Mellow out and age gracefully. It's not a sprint, it's A marathon.

In fact, this is proof that growth will continue all life long, although at different rates.
It seems that skin will grow much faster than the body itself, thus inducing that impression of wrinkles and folds.

I recently bought new forms
They came with double face tape especially shaped to work with the forms. I had never fastened my forms down, always relying on the bra to hold them in place. I even got a mastectomy bra with pockets for the forms. But I thought, OK, let's give it a try. Might be fun to go braless.
I carefully followed instructions applied the tape to the forms at the top like they said. Then using the untaped bottom to position them, I stuck them to my chest. Worked like a charm. Breasts on my chest with no bra in sight. I put on a white blouse that was just thin enough to show an faint outline of my bra when wearing one. I check myself in the mirror. It was awesome. It was obvious that I wasn't wearing a bra. Slipping on a pair of capris and some flats, I stayed dressed like that for the rest of the day.
I generally sleep with a bra and the forms on, so I thought I'd try it without a bra. To my surprise, they stayed on. The next day I put on a bra, just to get the experience of putting on a bra with breasts. Interesting to say the least. That evening, I began to feel some discomfort so I though it would be prudent to remove the forms and see what was up.
Like you there were red raw lesions where the tape attached to my skin. They were oozing a clear serum and the open air on them felt like it would if I had burned myself and popped the blister. Again like you, days to heal.
I won't be doing that again. I'm 78 and also find bruises and nicks and small cuts that appear out of nowhere with nothing done to cause them. Ain't old age grand?

Ricky my pet, there are some things no longer allowed as we age. Park your Go Go Boots, micro mini skirt, and mid drift exposing tank top. Ummm, put away the long flashy dangle earrings, and necklace beads. Tone down the liquid red lipstick to a more natural color and hold off on the one inch glitter gold fingernails.
I know it's hard to give up the thrill and chill excitement of stepping out all glamed up but time and age marches on taking no prisoners with it. Try toning down the glamour and going with graceful, alluring, mistress of wisdom.

Some 40 years ago I was mistaken for a girl by like 50% of the strangers.
Puberty for me was gentle. I was never a pimply teenager. And I am blonde so even after puberty I never encountered "five o clock shadow".
Now my hair is mostly gray, so I can get away with shaving twice a week... Still shave more or less every day. Even though my beard is not very visible, bearded lady is not how I see myself...
Glue ons
I bought the first of its kind silicone forms called the Mirage back in 1986 and to say the least I was young.
Even so, one quickly discovers that a weighty object glued to your chest will obey gravity and concentrate the force of it on the bottom where your poor skin is valiantly trying to stay attached to said form will create a lot of stress.
Part of the issue is of course the sweat that builds up underneath it if you are at all active while wearing it. In hot weather, forget about gluing it.
As a result, I've ignored fantasy stories where 'appliances attached' or 'body suits' are the main theme as there is no way one can stay comfortable under a non-breathing piece of plastic/silicone and actually enjoying it for an hour let alone passing wearing it for days on end.
I transitioned and eventually did the sensible thing and got implants which of course is likely not an option for non-full timers.
But, yes, the fantasy gets popped pretty readily.

Sorry. About cuts and bruises... Recently I was helping my friend with moving some furniture... I am like 20 years younger than you. I still have three cuts on my hands and a couple of bruises on my shins. One of the (quite painful) cuts I found week after the furniture moving.
And some years ago I tried gluing breastforms to my chest. "Feathered edges" are not as good as "advertised" in what you can order online. Maybe for a svelte 15 year old and A cup... But when you are "a bit overweight", almost 50 and trying it with C-cup... It does not work without a team of professional special effects people. My attempts best result was about 16 hours before breasts fell off. I used "most recommended" medical glue. It was impossible to make edges stay glued... Braless? No way! And yes, two weeks of red patches and bruises on my chest...
Oh, yes! Medical adhesive and adhesive remover destroys most available types of affordable breastforms in like 3 to 5 uses.
I still love to read stories like "I Can't Go Home Like This" where big breastforms could not be removed for months... But truth is more like an episode from the Simpsons, where Bart superglued water tap to his forehead... It takes just a little bit of sweat to loose any adhesion for any adhesive.
But so many good stories would have died on the third line without the trope of surgical glue that keeps appliances attached for weeks or months...
Dryness of ageing skin
Use a good moisturiser as skin gets dry as it ages, sebaceous and sweat glands don't work as well, also even though I've grown my own breasts, I still have an issue with some bras rubbing under the breast, though talc helps that when necessary.

... My ex wife had that problem... I tried some of her bras... Yes, it was many years ago... I tried to discretely guide her to the bras that will not cause any problem... It all ended in the divorce as she felt to be in the lesbian relationship... (Funny thing is, as far as I know, after our divorce she had no sex with anyone... Me too... I am still in love some 20+ years since I first seen her...)
