You can follow the links for the book's description, but this is important for my readers to know: This is not a YA book! This novel is gritty and tragic. Perhaps writing it was a reflection of the increased and visible hatred and violence current in America, but I was also faced with a dilemma that other authors have blogged about—whether to include any references to COVID-19. I chose to write about a time prior to, and hopefully after, the pandemic, so characters can talk face-to-face. I have long wanted to write a book about a private detective, and include familiar motifs of the genre: following suspects, long stakeouts, and a lot of coffee.
