I have her book, and we're acquaintances on Face Book

She was supposed to

She was to come to our synagogue for Pride Shabbat end of July of this year. Unfortunately it seems COVID-19 has suspended the plans for Pride.

I would have liked to hear her speak.

It was an interesting article

She went through a lot to become who she is. Many parts of the Jewish faith are very tolerant of a person's sexuality. I always liked to listen to Rabbi Lionel Blue give his 'thought for today' on BBC Radio 4. He was gay but had many friends in other faiths including Islam. Other parts of the Jewish faith are totally the opposite. I never realised the differences until I lived for 2 years in the Stamford Hill part of London in the 1970's. This is home to a lot of orthodox Jews.

What's Important, my own "Opinion".

Generally I have been treated most awfully by religious folk. I'm sure that lots of us share the same experience.

There is a passage in the Jewish works...Micah 6:8 ... G_d wants us to love mercy and justice and walk humbly beside him. That implies that the six hundred and some rules are less important.
