I am coming to the end of another novel, and it is now no secret of what the final 'conflict' is: dog fighting in South Wales.

I set that part of the action in Merhyr Tydfil, a town with a number of problems. Imagine my astonishment at seeing the BBC news item below.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46991589

It is about organised dog-fighting. In Merhyr Tydfil.

Bad news is ...

Bad news is - you are not the only one in the UK with more than one gray cell running around in that skull...
So someone else found that backwater under radar towns are a good place to have not exactly legal things happen... Now you can use that town all that you want and everyone will know that it is a place where dog fights are happening!
BTW... Lock Stock Two Smoking Barrels ... I've seen enough to recognize that movie... But where in the UK the dog fighting happened?..
..

How fortunes change

At the height of the industrial revolution, Cardiff was described as 'a town near Merthyr'

It's not just Merthyr

Many years ago, I heard rumours of dog fighting in Cardiff (at a location where the river would carry away any evidence). I think you could have chosen anywhere in the valleys, and a similar story could have broken. It's just that the fact it happened in Merthyr helps the media make more of the story than they otherwise would.

Caught

How often are they caught? One time in a thousand? Less often? It can't be very often, or most people would be loathe to take the risk.

It probably bounces all around the place, in just about every small town where they can get away with it, in every area where such blood sports are enjoyed.

People need to stick to capturing, enslaving, and fighting pokemon.

dog fight

there was a NFL player years ago in the U.S.A that got caught . Also what they call cock fights they have been caught to.

Dog abuse

The state of Florida just voted to faze out Greyhound racing by 2020 that is both a win and a lost depending on who you talk to.
