The dream is an amalgamation of his worries and fears with a little bit of foreshadowing thrown into the mix.

I remember the discussion in comments when you wrote the original. Good points were made on both sides.

But parading her through the mall buck nekkid is something that would get anyone, even a duly deputized peace officer, in trouble. Detaining (citizen's arrest) can be done by anyone, but abuse is just wrong. Also, could they actually charge someone for twisting? She did absolutely nothing wrong.

Come to think of it, there is one significant difference this time around. There's an actual brawl in the game store where in the previous version the mall cops arrived before the fight and stopped it before it could happen. Jim and Megan are blamed, and the guards obviously biased against 'freaks' and 'freak-lovers' side against them. It's sad to say but minorities are still arrested for false charges to this day, so it doesn't seem so unrealistic that it could happen to the twisted.
