What's with words in blogs and even in PM's being converted to links to advertisements? Is this another funds source for BC? Especially in PM's I think this is a step too far.

It is probably a virus in your browser, or maybe router

I don't see such links here. So, it is probably you.

Check the extensions and plugins installed in your browser. Google around a bit about each of these. Remove those who aren't legit. (Some might need an anti-virus level cleaning to come off.) Restart the browser after that.

If that doesn't help, check your system for unwanted drive-by software and viruses with anti-virus software. Remove everything bad. Restart.

If the problem still persists, connect your PC / laptop / ... to another source of Internet. If you aren't on speaking terms with that, ask for help someone around who is. If the problem stays on, you still have viruses and/or unwanted software and/or plugins - continue cleaning. If it disappears, most probably your router is infested - clean it or buy a new one.

Success - and if you have questions, they are welcome. :-)

I've had that happen to me

I ended up using the "Boot-Time Scan" on my Avast antivirus software. There's free version that I used for years, until the gave my a sweetheart deal to upgrade.

Browser problems

There are no such ads installed on BC, it is most likely in your browser. Some sites install hidden browser extensions when you click on a link on their page.

= Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because certainty is a fragile thing that can be shattered by one overlooked fact.

It's definitely a malicious

It's definitely a malicious browser extension. Chrome gets them them most, as add-ons for "find your routes", "free forms online", and various extensions.

First check your add-ons and extensions and remove any you don't actually use or need.

Second, download adwcleaner from https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

That'll run and strip out the malware that's left (well, it does a decent job. Doesn't necessarily remove everything).

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
