sad but well earned
Amazing. He helped keep a decades old vital hobby alive and enabled it to be brought into the new millenium and change with the times. The use of the internet and computers means work will live on for decades even as the technology evolves.
RIP, sir. You made your mark in history in many ways.
I'm told STFU more times in a day than most people get told in a lifetime

A very well deserved honor for a truly great person.

Ditto to all the above!
I'm glad this isn't the only community that remembers and misses Bob.
(And for some reason I have those early ham-radio scenes
from the 1997 film CONTACT running thru my head...)

What borders on stupidity?
Canada and Mexico.

When the world has gone to hell....
No lights, no internet, no computers, the word still gets out via the hams, sitting in their tiny space, banging on a brass key.
No phone, no lights, no motor
No phone, no lights, no motor cars?
(They'll have to have SOME power to run the transmitters and receivers)
I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
Start peddling!
...and hope the ionosphere is feeling cooperative today.
Meanwhile I'll hold off the zombies with my blunderbuss.

The majority of Hams have the parts put a side to build a generator powered by peddling plus batteries in a feraday cage. a hold over from the cold war. takes about an hour to be up and running including new antenna, My radios are all tube type more resistant to EMP and other such nonsense. Have a good day and enjoy life.

Will miss him greatly. He was a great author and had so much talent, he gave us so much, and never asked for much. Even created an entire site just for us that I hope someone will pick up (stardust) so his legacy can live on. He was truly the kindest stardust of all.
I know who I am, I am me, and I like me ^^
