It's a lot of work
There used to be a list of around 50 male and female words, and they were taped to the side of my monitor. Speech pathologists can be helpful. Privately, I used one for about three sessions, and later the VA sent me to one. It is not easy but one's voice can be significantly modified.
It varies
To change a post-pubertal voice which is in bass/baritone can be very hard whereas if you are a tenor it can be relatively easy. Melanie of Melanie Speaks fame started as a tenor.
In my opinion it can be a greater test of trans-desire to change that than even GRS is.
When I first started training myself I would have never imagined being able to do what I can do now in such a casual fashion. I even got the Kathe Perez seal of approval, though I did not learn much from her in the two classes she gave at Southern Comfort, and she wanted to feature me on her website.
