Looking for a story in which a colony is made of teenagers away from earth in a ship like thing. The inhabitants of the ship are given a device in which they can have the body of their own will just for one year. After one year they can make changes again. But if I remember there is a catastrophe of some kind on earth and the race is being repopulated through cloning, and the teens are these and the story is told from the point of view of one, and begins when he is around age 4.
and he has a thing for another, they go through a machine and he becomes a she and they become closer.
hmmmm???
The scenario is they can have any type of body or any changes they want in their bodies, not cloning.
