I know it is election day here in France and where I am now (SW of Brive la Gallarde) is wonderful cycling country. The roads and even the minor 'D' ones are well surfaced if you avoid the Department of Correze yet I saw very few out on the road today. The weather is perfect as well....
Where are they all? If this was England, there would be lots out on the road on a fine Sunday Morning.
I spoke to two Australians at lunchtime. They are in the middle of cycling from Oslo to Athens and they remarked on the lack of cyclists in this area.

Cycling Wales

Rhona McCloud's picture

My weekend suggests that every cyclist in the world has descended on the South Wales coast.

How's the canal?

You most likely have Bicycles stored on the roof for going into town..
Good, dry weather in UK this time of year brings out everyone!

This Cyclist

...has been cycling back and forth in the process of a flat move.

Lots of country roads

Happen the population density has spread them thinly? Not far from there in 2010 (West of Toulouse) there wasn't much traffic of any sort on the back roads, and cycles were very rare.

Spotted lots of them today

Climbing Mt Ventoux. Hats off to those who got right to the top as it was blowing a gale and just above freezing. There was some snow around yet down below it was 20C+.
Many of the climbers were going up at a very good rate and a good percentage were shall we say getting on a bit.
BMC colours seem to dominate although there was one lady in Sky lycra.
No, I didn't try it myself. Nowhere near fit enough even though my bike is in my car.
Kudos to those that got to the top and there were several hundred cyclists around.

Big event

That's more like it :)
The Tour de Yorkshire starts near here on Friday, it will be busy and within riding range, but the forecast is chilly and showery, so I think I will be at work instead, snatching the odd tv coverage. My friend rode Heart of the Wolds at the weekend, says the Thixendale climb was quite stiff - not Ventoux though!
