Heya peeps

The stories that not just me but almost everyone else write and post in the 'TG' genre are something like 99.9% in English. This means that they are at best difficult and worst completely beyond the majority of the world's population to read and enjoy. It has always been my intention to make at least some of my works available in other languages, a project that was indeed started many years ago but ended when my 'team' lost interest in continuing.

So i'm going to rekindle this project, initially with German but potentially moving to other languages if it proves successful. The point of this blog? Well I need someone to read the completed translations, a native speaker in preference, to make sure the translations actually make sense. So I'm looking for a volunteer(s), it shouldn't be too onerous, possibly a few chapters a month. If you think you could assist let me know.

Cheers
Mads

I'd be interested in this too, to be honest.

German, Spanish, and possibly French would be quite nice. Maybe Norwegian too, since the Scandinavian countries deserve a little love, and Norwgian (or possibly Danish) would probably be an acceptable middle ground there.

Ready to help...

If you going to do Russian, I'm ready to assist with editing/proofreading.

Willing to help with German and/or Spanish

I am willing to help with proof-reading in German and/or Spanish. Though with my depression, trying to finish my law degree in the next four to six months and work I can not commit to a lot of time.

I am a licensed translator English-Spanish and German-Spanish. My primary language growing up is German. And Spanish is the official language of the country where I live.

Spanish & French should have a high priority

To reach the largest geographic distribution.

Due to their large colonial empires in the past, English, Spanish, and French are spoken in most countries around the world. German not so much because Germany was late on the world stage (outside of Europe). French is used as a diplomatic language and has a global reach larger than one might expect. English is the language of commerce and is more flexible than other languages. Therefore, I expect English to eventually become the world language (although, it will differ somewhat from current "American English" due to the addition of new (or borrowed) words and the new forms of communication (texting/twitter/etc.) which will over time change the language).

re english

dawnfyre's picture

due to the impact the USA had on WWII US English was set as the language for international trade / business and agreed upon by the then new UN.

so yup, it is very likely to become the language used by default globally.

Stupidity is a capital offense. A summary not indictable.

thanks
