Blog About:

I went in for cataract surgery on my left eye yesterday. I was instructed to wear a button up shirt for the procedure. So wore my new pull up pants and a blue blouse with a square cut hem and long sleeves. Masculine enough that my wife is OK with me wearing it anywhere. A must because a guy from church was my ride to and from. However, while it may have the cut of a man's shirt, it has no breast pocket, buttons are on the distaff side and it has darts to accommodate my bustline. Inadvertently, i wore a pair of flats rather then my usual penny loafers. More on that in another blog. Underneath, I wore my usual underwear; panties, cami and bra w/C cup forms.

When they took me back for the prep, the technician, a nice young lady with a friendly smile and pleasant demeanor, got me ready for the procedure. She laid out a number of wires across me. She put a blood pressure cup on my right arm, a pulse monitor on one of my fingers. Then she said, "I just going to unbutton a few buttons, is that alright?" I gave my consent and she proceeded.

The reason she needed to unbutton the buttons is she needed to attach three electrodes to monitor my heart rate and respiration. In so doing, it was necessary to move my bra strap a little, which she did without any indication that there was anything unusual.

A little later the nurses came in to do the final prep. They put an IV in my left arm for a sedative to be administered later and talked to me a bit about what I could expect. During the exchange, one of the nurses reached out and touched my blouse and said. "I love that blue, it's really pretty shade."

The procedure took about fifteen minutes and then I was taken to recovery, where the tech met me again to undo all the wires. After she pulled all the electrodes, she smiled mischievously at me and said, "I'll just do up the buttons so you're not flashing anyone."

I love to read stories of people, especially health care professionals not only being professional, but also Compassionate. Thank you for sharing, and I'm very glad all went well.
