left handed screwdrivers etc are but nothing compared to a long wait.
And of course there can be only one outcome to that wait. I really am in Zombie mode at the moment, its not that i'm constantly thinking about what's going on but i cant get the grey matter to engage with any other thoughts. They've moved Dad to the palliative care unit now and they've collected all the gear from the house which in turn means there is somewhere i can sleep when i go up again.
I did rouse myself to go for a ride yesterday, a 94km 'loop' which included a mucky burger stop and a ride along the new River Yeo bike path which opened last Friday. Its been 25 years in the making for all of half a mile of path, the big hold up being a farmer who has used every means possible to delay things and cost the local council half a million pounds building a new bridge and pandering to his demands. He and his family are nasty bits of work but the council and campaigners stuck to their guns. It'll be a huge asset to the local community, bikes, horses and walkers now have a safe route across the Yeo estuary, cutting some 6 miles from the next shortest route and even more from the tarmac option. It will provide those doing the eponomous Lands End / John O' Groats route a safer passage too.
Today i've been in the garden, cropping the Gooseberries, beans, peas and the first of the potatoes, i'll be baking later once i've dragged myself to the shops for more 'gredients. The tomatoes and peppers are coming along nicely and the rest of the vegm from caulis to carrots, onions to courgettes are on their way.
The rest of the week? well i'm planning on a ride tomorrow, the weather is looking okay-ish into the weekend so subject to news from GOC, i'll try to get myself motivated to have a walk or two, maybe even get the bus somewhere, its difficult, having no en for my thuse.
I'll hopefully be back at the weekend, but for now,
Ciao,
Madeline Anafrid

Keep on Trucking or... You know what I mean
I hope that you get some certainty about your father soon. The waiting must be killing you from the inside out.
I dug up one of my Tattie plants today. 2.8kg of King Edwards. Lots of black rasps and cherries as well. The last of the tayberries have been made into a coulis and frozen.
Stay well and don't let the worry about your father distract you when out on the bike. You know what I mean.

tonights dinner
is all home grown veg with chicken pie followed by homegrown/scavenged fruit crumble & custard. Cooking etc has taken my mind off things - at least a bit.

There is a way through, Mads
Many of us have been there. The sun will come up, harvests and seasons will come and go. Keep pedalling.

Too close to home
Sorry Maddy, but I am so with you in your Zombieland, having just gone through exactly the same thing.
All I can add is to repeat what wiser heads have said. The sun will rise tomorrow, the blackbirds will sing and wake you up.
Keep on keeping on.
