has a habit of happening.

Tommorow for example is the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, the Normandy landings and the start of the final phase of WW2. That conflict cost so much in lives, infrastructure and financially and over the next 2 years we'll be 'celebrating' the end of the conflict in the various arenas it was played out in. I'm sure there will similar rememberances up to the centenary but these 80 year celebrations will be the last to feature men and women who served at the time.

Have we learnt from the past? Of course not, the protagonists may change but the wars to end all war have been succeeded by Korea, Vietnam, the Balkans, numerous Middle Eastern fisticuffs, Ukraine and a host of smaller conflicts with military interventions and that doesn't even touch on single nation actions.

So what's been happening down Brizzle way this week? Well Monday saw me taking a rare trip into the city centre - i was after a few bits for my upcoming trips. It was a nice day weatherwise but rather than walk i took the bus. I did find some walking sandals as well as some bits for my current modelling project. TBH i was feeling a bit under the weather after having caught the sun some on Sunday, must remember my bush hat when i go away!

Tuesday was a bit grey but forecast to be mostly dry so i did a 100km 'loop' to keep the legs turning. Yep after the last couple of days in the mid 20's, we were back to mid teens.

Today? well i wanted to post some stuff to #1 daughter so i headed to the PO then went on for a 7km walk up to Kingswood where i got a bit of shopping before enjoying the sun on the way back.

Maybe the next few days will be a bit more exciting?
