Home in both senses of the word. Back to BC, that's the main thing.
The op went exactly as expected. I won't give out gory details. What didn't go as expected was my reaction to said op, which meant I didn't eat or drink much for two days, and some of the meds had poor reactions. I should have been discharged Monday but ended up coming out Tuesday after the traditional interminable wait for discharge papers.
...Which we then forgot to take to the doctor's when we went! Double trip, but it was only a mile or so.
I have a drain in my leg which is weeping so both legs have been bandaged. My calves look like Zeppelins because of all the excess water. I'm moving around slowly but don't plan on doing much (except reading) until that all gets fixed.
I am amazed that so many stories got posted in the few days I was in! I don't know how you all do it but it shows BC is still being of use to a great number of people.
Keep up the good work.

Glad to see you back,
you were missed.
Glad to see you back!
I am glad things sound like they went according to plan. If you were unlucky then the old military nugget of plans and enemies would have popped up.
Much relieved!

Almost
I do appear to have acquired a chest infection since I arrived home, but it took until last night for me to realise it. Went to the Docs today and was issued with Amoxycillin. That should take care of anything 'normal', if it all looks like it is getting worse then I have permission to escalate on Sunday.

Amoxycyllin
If you can choose, I would suggest you taking Augmentin instead. This is Amoxycyllin with added clavulanate: 1 g of it contains 875 mg. Amoxycycllin and 125 mg. clavulanate, the ratio is the same for smaller or bigger doses. Novadays many bacteria are resistant to Amoxycyllin. Clavulanate destroys this resistance and the critters become sensitive to Amoxycyllin again.
The typical dose is 1 g Augmentin twice daily, equivalent to 1g Amoxycyllin 3 or 4 times daily. Best taken with or after food; ill or sensitive stomachs can be disturbed a bit by the clavulanate. A hour or two after intake might give to some people slight aftertaste, similar to metallic - if so, just wash it down with something tasting pleasantly.
... Swelling ...
Keep moving about, even if slowly.
Our lymph system is kind of our 'second circulatory system.'
We all know about our main (blood) circulation system, which is actively pumped.
The lymph system has no 'pump', it relies on our muscular activity and one way valves to get all the fluids from our tissues back where it belongs.
(Astronauts in zero/micro gravity develop what is cheerfully known as 'fat face.' They are OK on activity, but with no gravity, fluids in the face don't drain like they do on Earth.)
=> Ask doctor <= if spending some with legs elevated (a bit above level of heart if you can manage) will help with swelling. Oh, and ask how much walking is good.
