Elsbeth, one of my favorite authors on BCTS, abruptly disappeared 4 years ago today. I made a memorial post a year later. (See the last link below.) Here is what I posted. You will need to go to the original link to see the comments.
We miss you Elsbeth. I still read your stories several times a year.
----------------------------------------
I've met, well read the stories of and messaged with, many wonderful authors here at BCTS. One of them in particular had a large impact on me. Her name is Elsbeth.
Elsbeth wrote a number of stories. The three that I love the most are Harry Potter - Season of Change, Freyja's Daughter and The Lost Queen. I have read and re-read these stories so many times. There were a number of us here that were particularly excited about The Lost Queen. We had a group chat going where we talked about how awesome this story is and speculated on what the background to the story was and what might happen next.
Elsbeth was logging in almost every day and was publishing a chapter for Freja's Daughter or The Lost Queen every week or two. She posted Freyja's Daughters Chapter 7 on April 8th, 2020. On April 9th, 2020 she said in the comments that she is "stupidly busy" but safe.
This was the last day we heard from Elsbeth. One year ago today. Not on BCTS. Not on Discord. Not elsewhere. Her abrupt disappearance with no explanation in the middle of all of these posts from and about her have left many of us heart broken.
Elsbeth's last few story chapter postings are as follows:
https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/book/35158/elsbeth
2020/02/06 - Freyja's Daughters - Chapter 5
2020/02/14 - The Lost Queen Vol 2 Ch7
2020/03/01 - The Lost Queen Vol 2 Ch8
2020/03/12 - Freyja's Daughters - Chapter 6
2020/03/27 - The Lost Queen Vol 3 Ch1
2020/04/08 - Freyja's Daughters - Chapter 7
Elsbeth's last 3 posts were on 2020/04/09 in comments to Freyja's Daughters Ch 7 and The Lost Queen Vol 3 Ch 1, just a few weeks after the COVID pandemic started affecting her part of the world.
"Yea, i'm just stupidly busy. But I am safe as I can be. Fresh air is nice, mixed about it as too but way too many people going to state parks. Or worse taking the whole family to the market, really. Sigh, anyway be well."
Elsbeth, we hope you are OK. And that we hear from you again some day.
Blessed be. Willow Dancer.

there are a few authors who have simply vanished
some might be out there, somewhere, but some have probably passed on, but because their real life had no connection to their time here, we may never know for sure.
I hope one day all our missing authors will be accounted for - either by returning, or with us knowing we can let them go . . .
Lost Quee
Read that one so many times I've worn it out. I was reading again yesterday. Wishing someone with gaming knowledge would write a story to compliment her story. There are so many who have blessed us with their gift of transporting us to a magic world and away from the problems of everyday life. And then they leave their gift behind to be read by others who are whisked away into that magical place.
Hugs Willow, love you girl

The stone marker will be seen and then forgotten by a few. The stories seen and reread by hundreds, thousands.

I too miss her……
She was one of my favorite authors, and both The Lost Queen and Freyja’s Daughters were wonderful stories. Like others have commented here, I have re-read both multiple times - not just for the pleasure her wonderful talent brings me, but in the perhaps ridiculous hope that just maybe, one day, I will find a new chapter.
I have lost my faith over the years, but I still hope that Elsbeth is out there somewhere piling up a backlog of new work to post here.
Early on, when she stopped posting, and several times since then, I have searched to try to find her through various means online - but alas, I have had no joy. The fact that she appears to have simply disappeared is indeed disheartening. We have lost too many, but this is a loss which has a greater impact than most.
Wherever you are Elsbeth, whatever plane you may be traveling, I can only hope that you have found peace and happiness. You are missed more than my simple words can express.
If there is a God in Heaven, why must those who have meant so much to so many pass into oblivion too early? Where is the justice and compassion in that you bastard?

FWIW...
Elsbeth's Track page doesn't include any stories that were posted by other authors after that. (Latest one that I saw besides her own was Maddy Bell's Gaby #20, Chapter 29, from early February 2020.) So it does appear that she hasn't used her account since that April.
I miss her stories. I had hoped for more of Sacrificial Boy; its last post was in 2013 but she'd commented in 2019 that it was next in line after she completed Lost Princess and her Harry Potter story.
