Wonder why Bush and Obama

Wonder why Bush and Obama picked November dates for Heritage day and month, could it be that the cold weather would stop Open Air activities and displays.

Thanksgiving

More likely to tie it to Thanksgiving. We celebrate Thanksgiving when we do to commemorate the harvest celebrations of the pilgrims who acknowledged the help of the Native Americans who taught them tricks in farming in the New World and hunting skills. Legend has it the local Native Americans took part in that celebration.

So choosing the day after Thanksgiving acknowledges the first contribution of Native Americans to our society.

Could be, but if it was

Could be, but if it was earlier in the year say during the summer months the Native Indians could put on Cultural Displays around the country.

Native American Museum guestbook...

I visited a Native American Museum. On the way out, there was their guestbook. All the 'usuals' & comments.

Last space was "Tribal Affiliation'. ...

I had to put down "European Invading Colonizer" ....

Feathers

I recently found out that I am Shawnee Indian, likely full blooded. I knew my Mother was but I did not know that many Shawnee were moved by the military to Oklahoma from the Great Lakes area, so it is likely that my father was also. Some say that I must have proof of that. I am also told that a non Indian can not keep a feather they find on the ground.
