otherwise known as cake and wind!

It's been a busy end to the week, stuff has got moved around and of course there has been weather! Which is why i didn't go riding on Thursday, its not that it was terrible but a forecast of wet and windy between spots of sunshine put me off a bit. OTOH i was able to do a bit of gardening stuff in the cover of the 'greenhouse', We might be a long way from self sufficiency but every little helps right?

Friday was looking quite good, dry and not too windy but after a week off the bike it was just a gentle trip out to Clevedon for a mucky burger, all of 80km round trip at a gentle pace. On my return i had a parcel waiting, my new 'proper' Goretex alike jacket! It's taken a while to work it into the budget, decent bike kit isn't cheap but given the jacket it replaces is 20 years old and significantly battle scarred, i don't begrudge the outlay.

Saturday then, time to make a start on the bike rebuild project, the new/replacement bits weren't due yet but the stuff i do have all needed a bit of fettling, by the end of the afternoon it had started to look like a bike again. The first parts then arrived but without the rest i can't really progress things much further, the plan is to have another session tomorrow during which i should get the brakes sorted and the first bits of drivetrain installed.

And so to today, well it's the first Sunday of the month which means its the first charity bunfest up at Hill. The forecast was bright with showers but the big thing was the strong south westerly winds, gusting to 40mph, not ideal bike riding conditions. Well it was a chance to road test the new jacket, after all, we should support such efforts, the cycling community are, in my experience, extremely generous in supporting charities whether it be sponsored rides of some sort, donating/fixing bikes and kit or as in this case turning out in good numbers for an 'event'. The weather almost certainly reduced the Welsh visitors to zero, i doubt it was safe to cross the river and the wind direction would mean a difficult return, but the cyclists of Brizzle and Gloucester did turn out in fair numbers, wind or no, tea and cake was certainly being consumed at a steady rate! The return leg was hardwork at times, 68km my reward in distance.

Back in Brizz i put our Sunday dinner in the oven, after last weeks roast lamb, this weeks sausage casserole was somewhat more pedestrian! Whilst that was bubbling away i posted the next Gaby chapter, Back to life, back to reality which does what it says on the tin for Bond junior.

What's coming up this week? Well the GS has a birthday tomorrow, how can he be 6 already? I will be going up to see him and his mother, a few days in GOC is always good for the soul, the plans have changed several times already but i will be travelling to Sheffield to see my invalid father on Thursday and get my feet looked at before going up to Leeds on Friday for the weekend. Then its back to Sheffield for a couple more days before returning south midweek. All of which means that my posting here may be somewhat haphazard until i get back, i will post this Wednesday but beyond that, who knows.

So there we are, another week has become history, see you soon,
Byeeee!
