oh and travel plans

Sorry its a late post, as I mentioned at the weekend, I'm travelling to GOC tomorrow so I've reshuffled the weeks riding a bit and of course, yesterday I had my second vaccine shot so things are all a bit out of kilter this week.

I don't normally ride on Mondays, its my rest day of the week, its usually a few chores and nothing too physical but with my vaccine appointment mid morning Tuesday, I decided to go out on the bike rather than miss riding until later in the week.

I was still feeling a bit frail after last week so my vision was to go a bit further and see how the leg coped. Well I got as far as Thornbury, barely 20 miles, before I called a halt for lunch, I really was feeling off, not so much the leg but just generally. A 'picnic' sat on the grass in a sunny field however, worked wonders, so okay I'm still a way from 100% but the afternoon session was much better even if I only ended up doing 80km or so.

Yesterday, V2 day, I got myself organised and walked up to the vaccine centre where, a little after 11 I got my second dose. A bit of 'light' shopping then a gentle stroll back to Fishponds, it was something of an anti climax, I wanted a party, to tell the world, instead, I ended up cooking a sausage dinner for me an' Bev.

And so to today. The forecast was a bit grey but at least it was dry as I headed out for the North Somerset coast. In my head I was going to eat ice cream on a promenade somewhere after a jolly little ride out but instead, whilst I did visit the coast, my oil wasn't up so I ended up sans ice cream and with a somewhat shorter day in the saddle than I'd envisaged. Well it was just over 100km by the time I got back and it was a little quicker than the previous couple of rides so it is heading the right way, the leg not really worrying me at any point.

I've got a lot to do on my trip north, fix at least one bike, of course visit family and friends, sort out some banking and medical stuff (chiropodist on Friday for instance) and do some 'on the ground' accommodation investigation. It's been so long since I've been away from Bev's gaff for more than a few hours that I've got a bit anxious, almost to the point of not going even though I know that I must.

Well I have managed to do something constructive this week, as promised, the next 2nd edition Gaby book, #19, Girl's on Fire is now up and available so if you already have it on Kindle remember to download the new one and if you haven't got it, why not?

Of course you get another chapter of The Visitors today, Changes is a mixed bag of emotions for Drew, no spoilers but there's family stuff, bike racing and looking forward to the trip to America in a few weeks time.

I think that's everything for now, I hope to do a post at the weekend,
