I am trying to find an anime scifi movie from years ago. I thought it was Macross, but not so sure now. It involved an intergalactic war (I think) that had a group trying to get an ancient warship going and one of the group had to sing to get the ship going again. Originally, I thought it was Macross, but I looked through all the old movies from that series but couldn't find it. Not sure what universe it was in, may have been the Gundam universe for all I know. Anyone here have any idea what it might have been? I do know it was not Van Dread (sp?). Many thanks in advance

It's Macross

but that's been broken up by the Japanese and American markets. The first series is the same for both and the singer is Lynn Minmei. The enemy were raised segregated sexually and had very little in the way of emotions so when she sang for the troops the enemy heard it and it messed them up. This stops later on in the American continuations called Robotech but not in the Japanese ones, later they even develop song weapons and Mecha attacks and the mecha and the plots are better in the Japanese versions that were still titled Macross.

Although in Mospeada or Invid invasion there is a character called Lancer who infiltrates survivor towns as a female pop singer by the name of Yellow Dancer. This would be the 3rd Robotech series.

I hope that helps.

robotech

The show is called Robotech and it is currently available to anyone who has a netflix susbscription. Starting at disk 11 or 12 there is a tg element where one of the heroes called lancer portrays himself as a female singer known as "Yellow Dancer".
