Anyone know what is going on?

Could it be site maintenance?

Could it be site maintenance?

As the whateleyacademy.net address seems to be working, yet access to the title page is denied.

ED: I was there yesterday to check for new stories
(I usually check Monday, Wednesday and Friday)

Thanks for Concern

Our domains are set up to auto-renew. I got all the usual "your domain is set to auto-renew" messages through the month of September. And then yesterday, I got an email from Google that the site had not renewed and was now inaccessible. Of course, that was on a morning where I had an early a.m. show; so the first thing I did after getting up was silence / disable my phone to be certain it didn't disrupt out performance. Then, immediately after the show I had a meeting. Once the meeting ended, though, I got my phone back working, saw the email saying that the site was inaccessible and did a manual pay... which involved all of clicking on one simulated button.

All told, this might have affected visitors for about 12 hours, from what I'm seeing. Roughly 3:30 am when they failed to auto-renew properly to 3:30 pm when I made the manual payment.

Ironically, there are more posts here about the Whateley site being down than there are emails in my inbox about it. One comment at Patreon, and nothing at our Twitter. Don't make me resort to a Whateley Facebook page! :P

Well, I don't know your email

Well, I don't know your email address.

I'm in IT - I don't have twitter, facebook, or myspace. I have a skype account I don't use much, and a livejournal account I haven't updated in years.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

*nods*

A Skype call might actually have gotten through to me (I use a Skype based phone number as my 'land line' as a second contact point beyond my cell phone). It would have cut the down time significantly... but resulted in me getting a partial night sleep before a performance. Which can be bad. Actors tend to get upset when the sound op is snoring in the house. :P

I personally wouldn't have

I personally wouldn't have called you at night anyway. I get short nights too many times myself - and I remember the short nights before a performance uncomfortably well (thank you very much, Edward Albee. May you get what you deserve.) An expired domain is an expired domain, whether you fix it after 10 minutes or 2 days. Non emergency :)

It's parked at Google domain

E.E.Nalley's picture

It's parked at Google domain storage by the URL. It also says expired.html? I think the domain may have lapsed.

I'm out of my mind...and into YOURS!

I just checked.

Anne contacted me via e-mail and asked if the site was hacked. Has anyone been able to contact Kristen? If it has lapsed, I hope nobody takes advantage and swipes it. If they do, I'll sicc Spirit-Chan on them.

Re: It's parked at Google domain

What E.E. said here is what I noticed starting late evening/night of October 1st/2nd EDT.

I checked it frequently for about an hour, then periodically after that.

I was quite happy to see that it was back up when I looked a few minutes ago. YAY!

According to Kristin...

...it was supposed to auto renew, but for some reason (even though she had money in her account) it failed to renew.

Registration expired today.

Registration expired today. Definitely a renewal failure.

I have sent an email to Kirstin. Will also make updates to the wiki as they come in. Crystalhall.wiki.com.

I'm out of my mind...and into YOURS!

Wiki address?

I tried to put in (even copy and paste the address) you have above for the crystalhall wiki and am just getting wiki.com, what am I doing wrong? Oh I hope Kristin is Okay, as allowing a domain registration to expire is a good way to lose the domain!
This is the wiki address that works: http://crystalhall.wikia.com/wiki/Whateley_Academy_Wiki though I'm still trying to wade through it to find a substantive update on the status of Crystalhall/Whateley academy website....

We're working on it...

The site's still down but we ARE working to bring it back up... We'll post here and on the wiki when we know more or, hopefully, that it's back up and running.

Yup - in general, when the

Yup - in general, when the domain is disabled due to renewal, it comes right back online after paying the registration fee.
