What ever happened to Wendy J................or am I opening a can of worms?

I'm cleaning up my Story folder, and begain to re-read Wendy J's Midnight downloads. Now, "I think" (sure with what?) I'm one of the fortunate, to have the complete sreies "I hope," 01-50 and was wondering if Wendy was ever going to come back and write more! Now from what I've found at Sapphires and what I've heard Wendy, snapped when George Bush, got re-elected. I don't know if its true, but if it is true then I feel sad when someone goes coocoo for cocopuffs. Now I figured I'm opening up a can of worms, but what the hay I'm bored and don't have anything better to do. So dose anyone have the 411 on this subject?

Um weird...

Not to impose on this but I was commenting on a story and...well apparently it posted here instead, which is really weird to say the least....um so hi....

She did go into withdrawal when Bush was re-elected, taking her angst out on her readers. BUT...... her health is also very poor, and she has major problems with sitting, especially at a computer, long enough to do any real writing. I personally still have hopes for her health, and her writing. At least thats what I have learned. It has been a long time since I have gotten an answer to an email, or even an instant message from her.

Wendy J

I will put my hand up as a lurker many times and not responding to stories I have read as often as I would like. Midnight Downloads is sitting in my file awaiting another episode. I only have 36 chapters, so I have envy for Chris W with his 50.

I understand that authors give of their time and effort freely and we must await the next offering. If Wendy is reading this, I wish her well in her health, and look forward to seeing chapter 37 and more appear somewhere. In the meantime I will give thanks for her stories that I have.

Re: Midnight Downloads

Greetings

I read all the available chapters of Midnight Downloads and would welcome more chapters.

Hope that Wendy J can continue the story when her health improves.

Wow, you have chapters 1-50?

Wow, you have chapters 1-50? Under another identity, I was one of her editers and the last chapter I received before she went away was a very rough copy of chapter 45 in March 2005. She was also working on another story that would allow her to vent her frustrations at bush and the looney bin crew he's got working for him, but I only received two chapters of that before she went silent on me.

Unfortunately, due to a miscomunication fairly early on in our writer/editer relationship we never really established a strong personal friendship, just a good working relationship. Before that miscomunication, I feel that were on the way to forging a friendship, but after patching things up, neither of us made the effort made pick up where we left off. I truely regret not making that effort.

I have tried contacting her at the e-mail ID's she gave me, but they are no longer valid and just get bounced back to me. It's been that way for over a year. I sent e-mails to several people asking for additional contact information, or to forward a request contact me to her, but to date, no one has been able to help me.

But as for bush... I wouldn't say she went nuts. A lot of people hate the shrub and his policies, she just expresed her views in a manner that many feel was disrespectful by putting an inverted US flag on her site. She went away for a while after the election due to the flack she got for that in several forums. She came back briefly in Feb/Mar 2005, but left after pretty much the same people attacked her again for the same thing.

I do hope she comes back. I'd work with her again in a heartbeat.

Politics and Writing

Writing should be like sitting down with a friend.

One would never talk about dog feces with a group of ones pals, so why bring up Bush?

I, for one, would never write about politics or religion, unless I just had to.

Wendy

I have had the deep honor and privelege of working with Wendy. She responded to a general post I left one day on FM and helped me with my own stories.

I consider her a friend.

As to why she is not currently on line, I will not presume to answer. Wendy has done that well enough on Sapphire's Place.

Wendy has definitely not "snapped" or gone "coocoo for cocopuffs" In fact, my last contact with her she was quite lucid, and offered me some very helpful advice in my own personal life. And, I would NOT like to be characterized in that way.

It is true, she has strong feelings about politics (see her page), but then, so do I. Politically Wendy and I are opposites but that has never stopped our friendship. I for one would never condemn her for her well founded and developed beliefs. I do strongly believe, as Voltaire stated: ‘I [may] detest what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.’

If you want to see more of MD, here is my suggestion.

LEAVE HER ALONE!!

She will publish again when she is ready. There is nothing you can say to hasten her return but you may possibly delay it.

As to anyone who has a copy of unreleased chapters, I would ask you keep that to yourself. Nothing, and I'm speaking as a writer, Is more upsetting than having someone release or talk about writing that is still in the editing stage. Doing so I am rather certain will piss her off, it certainly would me.

As to politics in stories, I do it. I've recieved only one reader's negative comments on it.

In summary, send good wishes Wendy's way and be patient.

Should anyone wish to continue this off the thread, please feel free to contact me, [email protected].
