The pellet with the poison is in the Flagon with the Dragon, and the Chalice from the Palace has the brew that is true. Oh no...the Flagon with the Dragon broke. The pellet with the poison is in the Chalice from the Palace and the Vessel with the Pestle has the brew that is true. Or something like that - Rent or buy the Court Jester with Danny Kaye!!!

Danny Kaye is one of the true masters... right up there, anyway!

Too late, already own it. it has been one of our favorites for years.

The actual quote is just as mad...

Courtesy of Wikipedia (unsurprisingly!):

Hawkins: I've got it! The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true! Right?
Griselda: Right! -- but there's been a change: they broke the chalice from the palace...
Hawkins: They broke the chalice from the palace?
Griselda: ...and replaced it. With a flagon.
Hawkins: A flagon?
Griselda: With the figure of a dragon.
Hawkins: Flagon with a dragon.
Griselda: Right.
Hawkins: ...but did you put the pellet with the poison in the vessel with the pestle?
Griselda: No! The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon! The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!
Hawkins: The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon, the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true.
Griselda: Just remember that!

And even more unsurprisingly, the entire scene's available on YouTube...
Obviously, if you enjoyed that, it should whet your appetite for wanting to rent or buy the entire film.

Anything by Danny Kaye

I cried the day he died. Just watching him and Vera Ellen in "The Best Things Happen While You're Dancing," from "White Christmas!!!" A true master and a charmer to boot!

Here's another Danny Kaye scene and one somewhat appropriate to this site. :)

Sisters.

This started as clowning on the set by Kaye and Crosby. Crosby was uncomfortable with the idea of the scene being in the film but the director thought their impromptu bit was so funny that he insisted. You can see that Kaye finally cracks Crosby up at the end of the scene. The first time they filmed it, Crosby looked like he was having teeth pulled so Kaye went completely over the top in the second take. :)

And look at those garters/suspenders for their socks!

Hugs,
Erin

Even I as a true Brit

rate Danny Kaye as one of the foremost all-round entertainers of the 20th century. I've seen 'The Court jester' and others and never fail to watch anything that comes onto our programming here in England.
