I am going into NYC to Columbia Presbyterian on Monday for a consult and eventual follow-up for the tremors I am having. So far the medication I'm on has helped a great deal, but we are looking to find out what exactly is causing the problem. I had an MRI two weeks ago, and I am absolutely happy to say I don't have a tumor or a brain aneurysm. The hardest part is the 'not knowing.' No huge worries, since things are going well and God is still in control. Please pray, and thanks for reading my work and blessing me with your kind comments and encouragement. And thank you for blessing me with your wonderful stories as well. Dio ti benedice, miei cari! God Bless you all!! 'drea

You Will Be In MyThoughts And Prayers

jengrl's picture

Hi Andrea,

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I ask that you do the same for me. I found out that I have to have an Ultrasound done on August 21st and then a followup with my doctor in September for an abnormal EKG. My heart rate was 114 yesterday and she was concerned enough to order one right there in her office. She was consulting with a Cardiologist about it and she is going to let me know what they say. Dr. Rose is my new GP and she is far and away so much more compassionate and thorough than my old male GP. He disrespected me every time I went in. He refused to call me by my legal name and refused to use the proper pronouns. I am happy to say that all my new doctors are women. Take care of yourself okay?

Hugs,

Jen

I choose to call you who you are, sweetheart. Jengrl short for Jennifer Girl? Jennifer means fair, and you certainly deserve the esteem for your fairer self. I'll be praying; keep me posted. God bless, sweetheart! 'drea

Drea, Sounds Like

You might have a form of epilepsy. If so, many forms atr treatable.

Or Parkinsons or ...

you live on an active fault line.

Okay, so my supply of geology jokes is limited.

Best of luck, let's hope it's minor, treatable and non-progressive.

P.S. I do like your stories though boy do you believe in bashing your heros and heroines what with all the cancers, stillbirths, TG, asaults ... but love/faith usually truimps so a-okay plus they have a realism to them that most stories here do not. Not that I don't like fantacy too.

Thanks for the notes folks - my friend Martha (worked for her husband years ago - best friends to this day) went to the practice where my appointment is. The prelim is a prefrontal lobe seizure disorder, which is a form of epilepsy, so I'm in good hands. She suffered from the same disorder for years, and their medical care brought her to where she no longer has seizures and began to drive for the first time at about forty. Thanks for the prayers and support. God bless! 'drea

Tremors

Your tremors can probably be easily diagnosed and controlled by a neurologist versed in "movement disorders". The most common is "essential tremor". It's benign, has some familial connections and, if mild, can be controlled by various, relatively easy to take, drugs. The worst of the tremors can be controlled by deep brain stimulus. This is a neurosurgical procedure that can be expensive and is reserved for tremors that are really interfering with daily life. There are a wide range of tremors, all of them not Parkinsons, that can be treated much the same way.

Don't forget...

...your most important treatment: regular and plentiful >*hugs*!<, even if they're just virtual ones, from people who care about you! ^__^
