Anyone else only like stories with a complete transformation?

Hi all

First post, long time reader of the site and other tg sites.

Anyway I noticed that you can search for stories with cross dressing. However I feel like being able to search for non cross dressing stories would also be worthwhile.

For some reason I only like stories where there is a complete change in gender. I dont have anything agaisnt cross dressing or people who cross dress, its just not my personal taste. Each to their own, but I was wondering if there are other people out there who exclusively like tg fiction in a similar manner to me. For instance, my other favorite elements in stories are super powers or fantasy and even if a story has these elements i wont read them if its only cross dressing based. I cant really explain why, its just cross dressing doesnt interest me, whereas complete changes are fascinating for me.

By now i have figured out to search in the sci fi, magic, or other worlds categories, but i am looking for some new stories and i feel like if i could search in other categories while excuding the category cross dressing for me would be really useful. Is this possible?

Anyway thanks for the help. Again I have nothing against people who like cross dressing, it just doesnt keep me interested for some reason, cant help it. I just put up with it if i feel like a full change is coming soonish.

Hmmm. Not quite like you...

But still close. I am fascinated with complete transformations, however I seek more of a... social role change than of actual shape change. So, while super powers/fantasy/sci-fi are also my favourites, as is complete transformation, there are times when I am more interested in ability and willingness of a person to make an undeniable shift to another perspective and appearance, even if it is not quite complete.

Sheesh. Fine, I have a shapeshifter kink. So sue me.

I Do Like Stories That I Can Relate To

jengrl's picture

I am like you in that I like complete transformation stories. It is only because I can relate to these stories as a Transsexual woman. I never really considered myself as just a crossdresser. For me it went deeper than just the clothes. It just goes down to my soul. Julie O stories and EAFOAB are two of my many favorites.

Kinda interesting to see the different ways that everyone gets drawn to the stories

Its neat to see how both of us got to similar tastes in a different manner. I am almost opposite to you in that part of the alure for me is that its complete fantasy for me as its something I will never experience and can therefore not directly relate to. I am not transgender and I am happy as I am, i just have this undeniable interest, kink? for these stories.

will check out your recommendations.

many other heterosexual men who are happier as they are but have this kink?

PS if i hit any touchy subjects please let me know as i dont mean to stir anything up, i am just finding the different psychologies that create this interest in so many completely different people fascinating.

Just the opposite

if it says magic or sci-fi or other mystical vehicle for the transformation I have to be talked into reading them through the comments, all too often it means a weak excuse or lacking a good premise for it to come about so "then a miracle happens"...yawn. Too many intersexed outcomes as well, just not plausable at the frequency it happens around here, there's nothing wrong with being a garden variety transsexual.
But we are not all the same nor do we all have the same interests, thank goodness otherwise it would become quite boring reading stories all from the same cookie cutter.

Categories

You do realize that there is a Transformation category? And an advanced search? ::grin::

But if you like complete transformations, may I recommend my own Blue Moon?

And my current serial, Some Enchanted Girlfriend, for that matter.

What I like

What do I like in a story?

I like magic
I like unusual things
I like transgender characters (they are easier to identify with)
I also like when there is a bit of interaction between the characters (not just plain magic, that is boring)

And I think like you, I'm not that attracted to crossdressing. If it is just to dress, I don't see the point, and I certainly can't identify with the character. I do like when people really identify with their chosen gender and there is no doubt about it.
Speaking of it, when there is the crossdressing tag on a story, it makes me less likely to go find out what this is about.

But then, I don't think for me the transgender element in the story is that important. I think I just like it because it's less foreign for me, it's something I know. And the reason I read stories here is I think mainly because the stories are presented with images and colours, helping you choose the right story. On some site, you have to search by keywords, and I always find that keywords can't fully describe a story. And in the end, I don't find them very useful.

Use the Category Browser and click on the box next to "Transformation." That should do it. There's probably a thousand of more stories here that fit your criteria.

I sort of agree

I much prefer stories about a complete transformation -- technological or magical. (Anyhow, magic is just technology that doesn't have a specified physical explanation -- or, as Clarke says, Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.)

For those who like the same thing, I recommend the MORFS universe (http://morfs.nowhere2go.org/) and the Whateley universe (http://www.crystalhall.org/)

Even though my reading tastes have always been almost exclusively f/sf, I have enjoyed quite a few 'real world' stories here, such as bike, Eyewitness, Totally Insane, Dear Diary, all of Kaleigh Way's stuff, Susie and Jeffrey, and a whole lot of other stuff.

Now that I have a son who may be TG, I'm paying more attention to the 'real world' stuff. I want to understand, as best as I can, how he feels and how I can best help him.

I also tend to prefer

I also tend to prefer complete transformations. But then, I am a big Sci-Fi/Fantasy fan. I also like them because, lets face it, the character are often a lot happier if they can transform completely! I've read lots of stories without complete transformations that I still like very much, though. So long as there's a good story with interesting characters I'm there!

Giving It Away

Your need to know how the story ends must be balanced against the authors desire not to give away too much, thus ruining the tension.

Changes...

Puddintane's picture

I do prefer stories with changes, but internal changes seem to matter more, all in all.

I don't like stories that seem misogynistic to me, or feature male-centric stereotypes of what women are like.

I like stories that go somewhere, in which there is little or no whinging (the closer to none the better) and the central character winds up happier, kinder, wiser, or somewhat nobler than before.

In short, I prefer the eucatastrophe to the disaster every time.

Complete Transition or Transformation?

I have some bias toward TS stories with the protagonist having GRS or some equal substitute, but I also enjoy many crossdressing stories.

When you use the word 'Transformation', I think of magic or alien technology, etc., but when you write "complete change in gender", that also includes real life transition and surgery for real people.

If you are more interested in 'abnormal' transformations, have you looked at http://morfs.nowhere2go.org/ The MORFS Universe by Britney McMaster?

i have noticed the transformation category, but that often includes alot of cross dressing. As someone mentioned above i will only read a story tagged cross dressing if it gets great reviews or seems to have some really interesting elements. I can explain why i just dont really like the cross dressing thing.

In regards to GRS, that doesnt really do it for me, I like transformation to the point where the character is genetically female.

Really not trying to say my tastes are better or worse than anyone elses, just stating what i like and enjoying reading what other people specifically like.

I am familiar with whately and morfs. I think whately is what really got me hooked on tg fiction.

I am also a big fan of characters that dont end up a stereotypically female.

On a final note I am a huge fan of sci fi and fantasy to the point that at this point in my life its all i am interested in reading.

Complete Transformations

Those are my tastes, too, and what I write. Basically, I like to make an average guy a female amidst what I hope is a real plot, and let her deal with her new body and circumstances as best she can. If that appeals to you, then you might check out my stories. "Sappho" is a hair out of your specs because the transformation is done with GRS, but in that case, it's futuristic super science at work, and the guy-turned-woman is as functional as it gets.
