Everyone, I hope that it is alright to post this here. I saw this story tonight and my heart ached for this young child.

I would ask that everyone would take a moment to pray for this little one as she starts school and finding her way in this life.

I have included the weblink as well as a copy of the story in case the weblink is temporary. Please pass this information on to others if you would please.

I want to thank everyone for taking a moment of their valuable time to read this and think of this dear little girl. Perhaps more children who are in this situation will also have the opportunity and support now that so many of us wished that we would have had when we were younger...

Boy to Enter Kindergarten as Girl

Jul 11th - 6:20am

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Jul 10, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A 5-year-old boy who has been diagnosed with gender dysphoria will enter the school system in a Florida county as a girl.

The boy's parents, medical experts and school officials in Broward County, Fla., have decided that it is in his interests to live as a girl, the Miami Herald reported. When he enters kindergarten, the child will use a neutral name and wear neutral clothing. He will use unisex bathroom facilities.

''In addition to behaving like the opposite sex, a person with gender dysphoria naturally relates to the opposite sex,'' said Marilyn Volker, a Miami expert on gender identity. "They also have a persistent and recurring discomfort with their own external body parts and genitalia because it does not match their internal gender identity. Simply said, they were born into the wrong body.''

The boy reportedly insists on dressing in girl's clothes and says that he hates his male body.

I wish her...

...or him good luck.

From my own perspective I knew from about the age of five or six that something was wrong, I knew from the age of 8 to 10 that I wanted to be the same as my sister.

I wonder if his mother wasn't a trained counselor if he wouldn't just be humoured...

I don't think he is too young to be Gender Dysphoric, I do think he is far too young to make life effecting decisions like this, which rather implies that the decision has been made for him.

I hope and pray that he or she has a happy life and learns to live in anywa that makes them happy, but I don't see that that will happen. :(

My heart also goes out to such a precious soul. May happiness be waiting just around the bend as more begin to understand what that baby is going through.
