Yesterday I "ran" the Sisterhood Shabbat service at my synagogue here by having the other ladies do the various readings necessary to follow the service. Most of it went well. I was given the task of paraphraising the Torah portion.

Congrats on the honor... I've only attended one service at a local temple - my boss invited us to his daughter Bat' Mitzvah (It was a Purim service, and thus very quiet and peaceful - /NOT.).

Shalimar, I want to wish you Mazel Tov and a Hearty Yasher Kohach (Yasher Koach is the tradional Ashkanazi expression of congratulations for those who have had the merit of participating in the public worship of the synagogue. The words "Yasher koach" translate literally as "May your strength be firm),on you Mitzvot of leading Shabbat service for you sisterhood. Was this Friday Night Kabalah Shabbat or Saturday Morning? Did you get an aliyah? Did you lein Torah?
After reading you post, I decided to look at your stories, and just read, "For My Daughters". Your description of a Jewish Wedding, ranging from the need for Albert/Allison to obtain a Get (Jewish Divorce) from Rebbeca, to the requirement for an authentic Yichud after the ceremony (most people do not understand that part of a tradional Jewish Wedding) was very accurate. Your knowledge of Judaism and your apparent love for it, is exciting.
Finding a writer on any of the TG sites that is familar with Judaism and writes from that perspective is gratifying. While Christmas miracle stories are interesting, some Jewish content is exciting.
Post more stories and thanks for the ones you have written.

A great honour
Coming from a Protestant Christian tradition and being a worship leader, I can appreciate your sense of achievement.
It is a wonderful experience, though nerve wracking at first, to be able to lead other people in corporate worship of God. People have their own way of worshipping in private but to come together as a family of God and worship with others is different. Leading such worship is a wonderful experience for the leader and one of great honour.
