There was a very nice obituary written for this very talented transsexual conductor and arranger, in today's Guardian, link below. She wrote music for the BBC and films, and helped arrange music for such notables as John Williams in Star Wars and Superman.

Quite good
Well done. I particularly like this bit:
When Sikov asked how he should refer to her, in framing her reminiscences, she replied: "It's a judgment you'll have to make, and I'll have to accept."
I take it Sikov was the narrator of the BBC documentary.

Nicely done
They handled the pronoun juggling pretty well through the flow of the article.
Did he get it wrong.
Did Gavin Gaughan get it wrong? I thought it was a very nice article; however, the author kept flipping back and forth between masculine and feminine pronouns. Regardless of her name, Angela was always a woman. I guess the author doesn't understand the difference between sex and gender. Or did I get it wrong? We are speaking about a person whose continuity goes back from her death to her birth. There weren't any comments when I started writing this, so I missed the comment about pronoun use before I first posted this. Portia

I don't think so
Before Morley had her SRS in '71, he was known by a male name, so the writer used male pronouns. After SRS, when Morley took her new name, the writer uses female pronouns. As she had earned a nice reputation before SRS and deserved to receive credit for it, I thought the writer finessed things quite well.

RE: Angela Morley
On Thurday morning, Ken Bruce on BBC Radio 2, gave a warm obituary to Angela Morley. This spurred me into checking her entry on IMDB which listed all her film and television scores. The link is:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0605859/
She also had her own website which is at: http://www.angelamorley.com/
She writes about her career and her decision to live in the U.S. It is well worth a visit. Her music will live with us for a long time

Angela Morley
Nice web site, thank you Anne. Looking at her photos I was surprised to see she was also an accomplished pilot and she lived in Scottsdale, AZ. The world was much richer for her presence upon it.
Sympathetic
In my view, a sympathetic review of Angela's life. I was pleased that, at the time of her transition, there seemed to be no obvious sign of animosity towards her, and I was delighted that we continued to be blessed with her obvious musical talent.
I remember her in her previous role, and photos at the time showed a gentle person with an androgynous appearance. She was a wonderful example of a woman who overcame tremendous odds whilst maintaining a gentle dignity.
