Thoughts on my short story Brandy

I was reading over my short story Brandy again, because some of the comments I had gotten, said that the SRU wizard never changes his M.O. Hmmm, yet he is a wizard with a sense of humor, sardonic as it is, and does do good for people with genuine hearts.

Okay so, the interaction of the wizard is what makes him loveable, and his attire is a conversation starter, and he always does buisness in his little shop that crops up here and there every now and then. BUT.....

Why do things always have to be the same? Richard never went anywhere in the mall that he knew didn't have any stores, and most places he went to, were women's shops of all kinds.

So I can see that the readers didn't have a clue as to why the skirt suit was placed in plain sight where Richard could see it. And because it was a burgundy color, it actually stood out among all the other clothes on the rack.

Now everybody reads the SRU universe and reads the same old story, except that the names and sometimes the circumstances are changed. But it is the same old musty shop, the same dry wit, and the same old tricks. How boring.

Just because everybody falls into the same old boring storyline, does not mean it has to stay that way. I wrote Brandy in the SRU universe, after reading several stories of the wizard. There are even times he has teamed up with the owner of Bikini Beach, and has helped her with his magic, and that was not done in his musty old cluttered up shop.

So Brandy as being in the SRU universe will stay as it is, because even tho there are those that like to keep the status quo going, I feel that the change like I have made here in Brandy is good.

And another thing too is, the wizard does watch through his mirror at people he has helped. Granted they were ones he helped from his musty, cluttered up shop, but still has helped outside of his shop too on many occasions.

So while I do empathize with the readers, this is not too far off the beaten path for the SRU wizard.

Love & hugs,
Barbara
